"Frisk huh? Is that because you're so...Frisky?"
"I knew it! He's gonna ditch me for her! For that little brat! What makes her so special?!""Chara? HEY CHARA!"
She was abruptly woken up. It seemed she fell asleep at her desk again.
"Chara come on, Mom made dinner. Sorry I scared you." The sheepish reply made her laugh a little, calming her nerves, if only a small bit.
"Hey Chara? Are you really okay? You've been sleeping a lot lately."
She yawned, stretching with her good arm for now as she was still healing. "I'm fine Azzy, I think my body just wants to catch up from all the nightmares before." She replied, giving him a reassuring smile. "Kind of like when you get sick, and you're always sleepy the next day when you're feeling better."
"I never got sick!" He protested.
"Really? So what were the colds you used to get then? Flukes?"
"You're not sick if you have a cold, that's the flu!"
"Azzy that's basically the same thing."
"Is not!" He said, crossing his arms and pouting.
After a few moments, Chara started to laugh out loud, prompting him to laugh as well. He thought he must've looked really silly to her. Things seemed to be momentarily back to normal, to him at least."Come on, Mom's gonna worry if we don't go now." He said, turning to leave.
"Alright, let me clean up a minute, I'll be right out." She reassured him. When she turned to look at her desk, she felt a twinge of guilt, it was honestly lucky he didn't peek at what she was reading. Sighing softly to herself, she closed the book after using a golden flower to bookmark where she was reading previously, to her memory.
Not again...did I really make someone else hurt...?
She gripped onto her desk. It was happening again, but worse. She hated this, what was so special about her that she had to be constantly tormented?"Chara I thought you were-" Asriel started, but when he saw her after walking back in, he ran over to her. Less than a minute ago she wasn't pale and trembling. "Chara what's wrong?! Talk to me!"
After a moment of her standing like that and not responding, he stood up. "I'm gonna go get Mom, I'll be right back!"
"Wait!" Chara said quickly. "I'll tell you, just don't get your mom involved, I don't want anyone else to worry.."
He really debated just ignoring her request and getting her help, but if she trusted him enough to actually tell him what was going on, he didn't want to lose that trust. "Okay, hang on." He agreed. Leaning out of the doorway, he called to Toriel, telling her they'd be out for dinner in a few minutes. Once she was satisfied, he came back inside, closing the door as Chara was sitting on her bed. He looked worried as he sat next to her, she still didn't look well."I...I think I made a mistake. Asking your Dad to take those SOULs I mean." She started, she meant it. "I keep hearing things, seeing things. Things that never happened to me."
"What...what do you..." Asriel started, realizing something mid-sentence. "Wait...that's what happened at the Ruins isn't it?!"
Chara nodded. "I don't know why this is going on, I think maybe someone else fell. But...whatever they're feeling I end up experiencing it whether I want to or not." She continued. "Just now, someone was...I guess regretful is the emotion? Like they did something they can't ever take back..." She trailed off a bit, quickly standing up.
"C-Chara?!" Asriel started, getting up and grabbing her good arm. "Where are you going?!"
"It's...it's complicated. Come with me." She urged him. "I can't do this alone, especially if someone really did fall. Please?"
He looked worried for a moment, but looking at the determination on her face, how could he say no? "Alright but after this, you tell me if it happens again. Deal?"
"Deal!"---
The demon that comes when people call its name...it doesn't matter where...it doesn't matter when...
---Every few minutes or so, Asriel would just watch her, making sure she was alright.
"Asriel, stop that. I'm not gonna keel over in the middle of Snowdin."
"You almost did the last time.."
His response made her feel a bit guilty. She didn't remember that at all. "I..I didn't know that." She admitted. "It was that bad?"
Asriel nodded. "Yeah, but I still let you talk me into going there....and I just did it again didn't I?"
She smiled a bit. "Well luckily I'm okay now, promise."
