Somehow one day recently I stumbled upon this interesting site written by an American guy who lived in Korea. He learnt how to speak Korean in the basis of "making his in laws feel at ease about him taking care of their daughter".
Okay, in my opinion, that is so sweet of him. I wish if I ever get someone outside from my cultural border to be my other half, he would be at least that passionate in creating a good trust relationship with my family. (I have a really big family, so it's hard to please everyone, but at least, the effort would really mean a lot)
I on the other hand, would definitely do that, because I hate it to be at someplace but not being able to blend in. I do love to stand out (I do have some degree of narcissism in myself, I admit that) but that doesn't mean putting a big wall between me and my surrounding.
Okay. That aside, that guy from the site recommended this social website, where people are looking for language exchange. It's called Lang-8. Check it out, if you're interested in studying languages! www.lang-8.com
I tried it, and I think it is really fun and fulfilling. Coz they would simply correct you, no matter how small the step you take. Because you would be challenging your ownself through your posts, in terms of complexity, vocab, and level of speech, the pace of the practice is totally yours.
I'll be posting my journal in lang-8 here, and feel free to correct me here too!!! I love when people correct my writing, because that would mean that you had paid at least a little attention to my work. To me, comments would mean that my hard work is worth responding to.
