Then Don't

"Hey Em, how about you strip for us?" Amber taunted with a smirk.

"Oh no Amber you've got it wrong, remember? Cain has to be the one to strip for Emily." Beatrice added with a wide smile on her face.

I ignored them both feeling annoyed and cut at the paper in front of me trying to make it resemble a dinosaur. Even with the stencil it was hard to do. Paul and Isabelle's son's birthday was coming up and we were currently helping with preparing decorations for the big day as she went and met with the pack pastry chef about the cake design.

"Oh come on Emily, you have to admit it was hilarious. I wish we could have recorded you. You were just so-" Amber bit her lip and began laughing again. I put down my scissors and paper and glared at her and a now laughing Beatrice.

"Ha ha ha laugh it up." And they did.

"I'm sorry it was just so out of character!" Beatrice exclaimed.

"I know right? Who knew that Emily had a sexy little vixen in her?!" Amber added and laughed more.

I knew the way I had acted was ridiculous but part of me wondered if maybe I should act a bit more like my drunk self at least around Cain. Maybe he'd be more affectionate if I put myself more out there.

"How are the decorations coming?" Adam sauntered up to a grinning Amber and kissed her on the cheek. I was surprised with how strong Amber seemed after we had come back, I was a mess. I knew a lot of it had to do with Adam. Their bond seemed oddly more significant than others. They weren't just mates, they were best friends.

"It'd be going a lot better if some people would actually start making the decorations." I threw pointed looks at both Amber and Beatrice. Amber laughed and Beatrice shrugged her shoulders look slightly embarrassed but also amused.

"Girls show some respect to Emily!" He chastised. I stared at him surprised that he was actually standing up for me. I was about to tell him it was unnecessary but then he continued. "If you tease her too much she may command you to strip. Oh wait. I'm sorry, that's just Cain." The three of them broke into a roaring laugh at the poor joke and I just rolled my eyes before giving up on defending myself to my few friends.

The night of the welcoming had been two days ago. I was embarrassed the next morning when facing Cain to say the least but he didn't tease me about it nor seem to really desire discussing it further. I cringed even thinking back to how blunt I was but part of me also felt oddly satisfied by how I acted. I felt almost liberated.

"Aren't you and Cain supposed to be discussing patrol plans right now?" Amber asked as she grabbed her mates hand and intertwined their fingers.

"Yeah we were in the middle of our meeting when we had a small disturbance..." Adam looked uncomfortable and I noticed his eyes quickly shooting to me then looking away.

"A small disturbance?" I asked. Adam looked nervous but then met my eyes standing a bit straighter.

"Sophie came into the office with a few of her friends claiming to have been... well attacked by you the night of the welcoming."

"That's a lie!" Beatrice growled. Amber also called out something else in protest but I couldn't hear it as I was already walking away from the table and headed towards Cain's office. I was officially done with Sophie. Sick of it all. Completely tired of being pushed around by this- this child!

"Emily!" Adam caught up to me after a few short breaths but I was too mad to even look at him. He didn't seem to care and continued speaking. "You should know, Cain didn't believe her. I mean, obviously. I was annoyed by you when I first met you-" I glanced him then and he shrugged with a grin.
