Chapter 6 - JAMES POV

Lily Evans finally accepted me. The girl my heart had been set on for forever finally returned the feeling.

I pull back and look into those endless green eyes. "Do you want to go back to the commons room?"

She nods. I take her hand and help her up, and we walk to the commons room. I am reminded of earlier today. We were walking to the commons room. Only this time Lily's feelings were changed. The one she hated was now the one she loved. The one she loved was now the one she hated. It's weird how things can change.

Once we are in, Lily makes a beeline for one of the comfy sofas. She doesn't worry about Alice, or the Maruders, or anyone else. Just me.

She sits down and pats the space next to her, inviting me to come to her. I gladly obey. She smiles as I walk over.

For a while we just talk. She asks me random questions like if I preferred muggle candy over wizard candy, and I replied that I had never tried muggle candy, so I couldn't answer that question properly.

Lily laughs. "True." Then she asks me even more random questions.

At the end of the night, I have Lily laughing at my jokes. It was easy to make her laugh now. That was good. I liked her laugh. It was the perfect pitch that was hard to describe. It wasn't a loud, obnoxious laugh, but it was audible. I don't know. Everything about her was perfect.

Too soon comes time for us to go to bed. Too soon.

I trudge up to my dorm and lay down on the bed, fully clothed. I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I know, sunlight is streaming in from the windows.

Ugh. We have class today. Dang it.

I change and go down to the Great Hall for breakfast. At least I had something to look forward to at the end of the week. There was a Quidditch game.

Classes were boring. It was a shame I only had two of them with Lily. But I didn't take those for granted. Not at all.

I got her to pass notes with me in Charms. It was a particuarly boring class today, and Lily agreed. Listening to Professor Flitwick lecture about the proper way to flick your wand for a spell was just torture.

In DADA, it was harder to get her to break the rules, but she did anyway, scribbling words on scraps of parchment and handing them to me. It felt... Right. With her, I was happy. We were two pieces of a puzzle. Those two pieces fit together perfectly.

The end of the week came rather slowly. But that was okay. That meant that the moments I spent with Lily were longer. They were sweeter. They were more special somehow.

We walked to the Quidditch field together. She seemed to be happy with just talking about random things. When we got there, she gave me a hug for good luck before running off to the stands.

Maybe it was the hug that helped us win the game. I don't know.

I kicked off of the ground when the whistle blew. I soared high up in the air, searching for the small golden sphere.

Ravenclaw had scored two points and Gryffindor had scored three when I saw it. The Snitch.

It zoomed around close to the ground for a while, and then dashed higher. It was then that Ravenclaw's Seeker saw it.

He dashed toward it, but sadly for him I had a better broom. I got there first. Gryffindor scored another point.

My hand closed around the Snitch. The crowd roared.

I was suddenly engulfed in a swarm of Quidditch players. People poured from the stands and onto the field. Chants of, "James, James, James, James, James!" and "Go Potter!" Were the only sounds. But I had eyes for only one person.

Lily.

I spotted her red hair quickly. It wasn't hard to find her.

I tried to reach her, but the swarm of people was too thick. I couldn't get very far until another cheering person blocked my way. Dang it.

It wasn't until the next day that I could see her. Saturday morning was usually what calmed people down. Between studying and relaxing, the events of last night's Quidditch game were slowly forgotten.

I sat across from her in the common room. She was doing her homework on a table.

"Hello." I say.

She looks up. "Hi."

"How are you doing?" I ask.

"Fine. You?"

I shrug. "Better now, that I can actually talk to you and not have people surronding me."

She smiles. "That must be exhausting. So many people."

"It kinda is, but you can get used to all of the attention."

She shakes her head. "That's not for me."

"Who said I was talking about you?" I ask jokingly.

She shrugs. "I assumed that since you were looking at me and talking to me, I would give my opinion. Problem?"

"Not at all."

******************

You wouldn't believe how hard this was to write. Oh my gosh.

And then I'm sorry this is so short. It's ridiculous. I take forever to update and then it's tiny. Sorry, recruits.

Special thanks to sparklemelon26 for telling me that Tonks was actually 13 years younger than Lily. Whoops.
