Chapter 5

Chapter 5 - LILY POV


"Hi..." I reply, slightly freaked out. "What is going on?"

"Nothing. Just happy to see you. You shouldn't go running off on people. It's rude."

"Well, when that person you are running off on is surrounded by friends, I think we can make an exception."

He shrugs. "You're right. We'll make an exception. Just this once."

Why was Sev acting so weird?

He then starts to advance towards me. I take a step backward for every step he takes forward, and soon I am backed against the wall with nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. I, Lily Evans, was stuck between a wall and Severus Snape, with no way of escape.

Then I see the dark shapes come out of the shadows. Sev's "friends". They all had their wands out. I gulp. No magic could save me, not when I was alone against 10 people.

I start to scream. This only lasts for a second. Someone flicks their wand and my tongue is pressed up against the roof of my mouth. It is very uncomfortable.

"Lily, we will unhex you if you promise not to scream. Can you keep your end of the bargain?" Sev asks.

I nod. My tongue falls back into place.

"We will need you to answer some questions, and then we will be done. Okay?"

I nod again. Sev was- screw it, with these actions he doesn't deserve the name 'Sev' anymore- Severus was being a jerk. Where was the sweet, lonely boy that had no friends?

"Why does your friend James hate me?" He asks.

"He thinks that you are a horrible person. The fact that you are a Slytherin is a big factor in this opinion. I think he's also jealous that we are such good friends."

"Do you think I'm a horrible person?" He asks, his voice barely audible.

"No." I say. "You can be a bit rude at times, but that doesn't mean you are a bad person. I know that you are a good guy, underneath the dark mask."

He looks away. "No. You're wrong. I'm not a good person."

"Yes, you are! If you just-"

"Enough!" He yells, anger suddenly flaring in his eyes. "I am a horrible person." The fire is quenched. Severus was now the boy that had become my friend. "I shouldn't have hung out with them. You know what's best for me."

"Severus," I say, "You are your own person. You know what's best for you. Not me, not them, you."

The anger was back. "You really do know everything, don't you? Lily Evans, the filthy Mudblood who gave out quotes and useless information that nobody ever cared about."

I feel hot tears sting my eyes. "Fine then. If I am the... The..." My voice breaks. "Mudblood you hate, then why are you still here?" My voice starts to rise. "Severus Snape, why are you still in the presence of a muggleborn?!"

He runs away. My words had more power than I thought they did. I slide down the wall and start to sob. Severus wasn't a friend anymore. The friend had become the foe.

Alice runs up to me. "Lily! Lil, what happened?!"

I just shake my head, unable to see clearly because of all of the tears.

"Is it Severus?" She asks in a low voice.

I nod.

"What did he do?"

I am unable to answer when I see another blurry figure. James.

"What happened?" He whispers to Alice.

"I dunno." She replies. "I haven't gotten her to say anything."

It gets really quiet then. I don't notice that Alice left until James sits down next to me.

"What do you want?" I ask, trying to sound annoyed. It of course fails.

"Can you tell me what Severus did to you?"

I try not to say anything. I bite my lip nervously. But of course those brown eyes pry the information out of me. I recap the events leading up to now.

James listens intently, and doesn't interrupt. His facial expression changes from shock to horror and back again.

"You were right, James." I whisper. "People can change."

He smiles. "Will you accept me to he your friend?"

"You've always been my friend, no matter how much I hide it." I say.

"Really?" He asks.

"Really." I reply.

"Care to be more than that?"

"Go ahead."

James then leans forward and kisses me. It is in that moment that I know I had been making a mistake my whole life. James Potter was actually a nice guy.

I'm sorry this took so long to update, but I was stuck on the fight between Severus and Lily. I'm not sure the fight happened this way, but you were warned at the beginning of the book that I probably didn't get all of the facts right. Correct me when needed.
