Chapter 7- Lily POV

Maybe it was the way that he used to bully Severus. Maybe it was how he would always cause trouble when his friends were around. Maybe it was just some illusion that had caused me to think that James was some idiot.

That last example doesn't really fit with the rest. Sure, he doesn't fail every class, but he still doesn't get straight O's.

But that's beside the point.

Now that Severus had become part of the group of scary kids, James had taken up the slack of being a friend/lover.

But Severus had never really been a lover.

My thoughts are clearly too tangled up. Maybe a trip to the library will help.

I walk to the library. It was a clear and sunny morning. Students were spread across the grass, studying and talking. I saw Sirius, Remus, and Peter. Let's just hope they didn't see me.

But if they did, it wouldn't make much of a difference. I was going to the library.

The company of books was more than enough for me. And they smelled amazing. The library always smelled like heaven. It was quite beautiful.

I slid a few books off of the shelves. One was a small book with a leather cover. The title said, Potions-Making For First Years in thin silver calligraphy. There wasn't any particular reason for reading it, but I wanted to remember the potions I had to brew in my first year. Good times.

Another was a thick book with a deep crimson cover. The title was Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them- Third Year. It was written in this gold ink that stood out on the dark cover. Like the potions book, I just wanted to relive my third year's Care of Magical Creatures class.

The last was a book with a tattered cover. The exact colour was hard to figure out, because it was the original colour one second, but then it changed to a different one. I saw turquoise appear a lot, so I figured that must be it. It seemed to have no title. Even the title page was gone. Torn out, maybe. It was interesting because of how much information was in it. From the twelve uses of dragon blood to the effects of gillyweed, this book had it all. It was absolutely huge, and weighed several pounds.

I opened the potions one and started to read.

I didn't get very far, however, before someone tapped me on the shoulder. I look up from a very interesting potion recipe and see James.

"Hello." I say.

"You are in the library, reading, when it is a beautiful day outside?" He asks.

"Yes. Do you have a problem with that?"

"Sort of."

I sigh.

He helps me put the books away, and then we go outside.

"Where to?" He asks.

"It doesn't matter." I say.

"That's helpful." He says sarcastically.

"I know."

Eventually James leads me to a spot under a tree. We talk about the scenery, classes, students, Hogwarts in general. But our moment of tranquility was shattered when someone clears their throat behind us.

James and I look back to see the source of the noise. It was Peter.

"James. Emergency Marauder meeting. Now."

James glances at me, then cautiously gets up and walks away with Peter.

Hmm. I wonder what they're up to...

*****************

What is this? An update? From me? The person who has been silent for so long? It's foreign.

I am soooooo sorry for that. Dang stomach virus! Plus school and life. I want it to pause for a bit, so I can actually write! Gah. (I also probably spelled 'Marauder' wrong, please correct me. *sharp inhale*)

Thank you for being patient with me.

Stay awesome, recruits!
