Day 8: You Do Not Have Because You Don't Ask God

"What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don't they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it." James 4:1-2 (New Living Translation).

How can it be so simple? All we have to do is ask God? I thought we all have to go out and compete and fight and claw our way over others until we finally can earn what we need. That's what this world wants us to believe as we fight each other for limited opportunities and resources.

But there seems to be a better way in God's Kingdom. God has no scarcity in His warehouses, and whatever is missing He can create or summon with a whisper. He is able to produce it from a rock or multiply a little boy's lunch to feed a multitude.

Maybe it is because we see other people as our source, or our jobs, or our environment or country. Yet, when the economy tanks, we begin to scheme, fight, fuss and claw. All we have to do, though, is go to our true Source, God, in prayer, asking Him for what we need!

Action Step:

- What is it you think you need?

- Have you fallen into the common trap of looking to people to give it to you?

- If you don't have it yet, have you asked God for it?

- Ask Him now.
