Jason's pov
Luckily this tower is secluded and surrounded by not only the rockface behind it but the thick bushes and brambles. I wipe the sweat off my face and sling the bag on my shoulder. This tower is nearly 5 stories and the only accessible window is at the very top. "Well Aldean, get to climbin'." I whisper to myself, rubbing my hands together. About thirty minutes of exhausted climbing, I finally reach the window and haul myself inside. "Damn, that was hard." I choke out, tiredly. I take a step and hear a footstep. I look around the pitch black room. "W-Who's there?" I gasp shakily, gripping the bag's strap tightly. Suddenly I feel something hit me in the head.
Miranda's pov
He falls unconscious after I hit him in the head with my trusty baseball bat. I stare at him fearfully. And mother thought the outside world was dangerous! The tower isn't safe anymore. I tie him to a chair and turn the light on after pulling out a crown. Wow. It's beautiful. I place it on my head and look at myself in the mirror. I stuff it back in the bag and hide it under the steps to my room.
Jason's pov
Oh man what hit me? "What happened?" I mumble blinking the spots from my eyes. My eyes land on a girl with dark brown hair and curious blue eyes. "Whoa... I... I thought this place was abandoned!" "No. Who are you and how did you find me?!" She cries, fearfully. I pull on the rope but it's no use. "I can assure you I'm not gonna hurt you ma'am. I'll just get my bag and be on my...." My voice trails off when I realize my bag is gone. My eyes go wide. "W-Where's my bag?!" I screech. "I hid it. Now who are you and how did you find me?" Hm... How do I tackle this situation. "My names Flynn Rider." That's my robber's name I of course don't want to tell her my real name so she can't go to the authorities. "And I didn't know anyone was in here. I was just hiding." "Why?" "Um.... Hide and seek?" She laughs fakely. "I'm not stupid. Don't underestimate me." "Where's my bag?!" I growl angrily. "Don't make me use this!" She snaps, a bat in front of my face. I take a deep breath. "What do you want from me?!" I shout.
Miranda's pov
My eyes go wide. He could help me to see the floating lights. "I need a guide." He raises an eyebrow. "A guide?" "I haven't left this tower ever. But I want to see the floating lights. And I want you to take me."
Jason's pov
Floating lights? What's she talking about?! "You take me to the lights then return me safely to my tower and then and only then will I return your precious bag!" I glare at her. "I don't know what floating lights you're talking about!" "The lights that appear in the sky but only on my birthday!" She cries. Is she talking about the lantern thing the king and queen do for the lost princess every year? "I can't. The king and queen... Don't particularly like me." "Then you'll never see the bag again." She threatens. My eyes go wide. "I stole- I mean I bought that fair and square!" "Take me to the lights and you'll get it back!" "No way! Give it back now!" She glares hard at me. "Have it your way, mr. Flynn Rider but trust me when I say this, you can take this whole tower apart brick by brick but you won't ever find your bag without my help." I sigh. One night with this girl won't kill me. "Fine, I'll take you to see the lanterns." I grumble annoyed. She screams in happiness. "Yes! Finally!" "Can ya untie me?" She laughs. "Oh right!" She unties me. I rub my wrist in pain. "Alright if we wanna get there in time, we better go now." She's super excited. Why? They're just lanterns! "Let's go." I mutter irritated. She runs to the window but freezes. "Hello?" "I... I've never been out of this tower." "Well we can always just quit now before we even leave." She spins around. "No way! I'm seeing those lights if it's the last thing I do!" She climbs down and I do too. The next ten hours are gonna suck.
