Chapter 5

Jason's pov

We run through the tunnel, the guards hot on our heels. "Flynn!" She creams terrified. "Come on!" I gasp, grabbing her hand. We come out on a cliff face! The guards, that horse, and Donny and Kevin block the path. I back up, my foot almost making me fall off the edge. "We're trapped!" I say, fearfully. "Oh no we're not! I'm seeing those lights if it kills me!" She jumps on the wooden structure beside us. "Holy!" I shrug and follow her. It's rickety. I slide down, stumbling at the bottom. Several pieces of rock start crashing down. "Oh no!" She grabs my arm and runs to a small cave just as the rock crashes down. I cough from the dust. It fills with water. "No!" I try to pry the rock loose as the water fills up. I end up cutting my hand. We aren't getting out of this. My eyes lock on hers. I've never seen such fear on anyone. And I'm a robber! "What do we do?!" "I don't know." I shakily say. The water is up to our chests and it's super dark. "If we're gonna die.... I want you to know something." I shakily say. The water stings the cut on my hand. "My name's not Flynn. It's really Jason." "Oh well I have a secret too." "What is it?" She takes a deep breath. "I have magic hair that glows when I sing." I stare at her confused. Her eyes go wide. "I have... Magic hair that glows when I sing!" She cries again.

Miranda's pov

"Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine! Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine!" I sing as quickly as I can. My hair glows and lights up a small crack in the wall. Flynn... Or Jason's eyes go wide. He pulls on the rock, making it come loose and we fall out onto grass, the water going everywhere. I cough painfully and sit up. "We're alive!" I cry thankfully.

Jason's pov

"Her hair glows." I gasp confused. "What the heck?" She stops her mini celebration and squeezes the water out of her.... Magic hair. "Don't freak out!" "What is going on here?!" We sit on a log. "Please don't freak out." She wraps some of her long blonde hair around the cut on my hand. "Flower gleam and glow.... Let your power shine.... Make the clock reverse.... Bring back what once was mine." She whisper sings beautifully. "Heal what has been hurt..... Change the fate's design.... Save what has been lost.... Rbign back what once was mine! What once was mine." She has a beautiful singing voice. But it doesn't explain-" She points to my hand. I move her hair and to my shock, the cut is gone. "How did you-" "Don't freak out!" I take a deep breath trying not to freak out. "How does your hair do that?" She shrugs. "I was born that way. Hence the reason mother doesn't let me leave the tower. People will use my power for evil." This is so shocking. Night's starting to fall. Which means we only have one more day to make it to the kingdom! "Alright let's rest for the night and we can continue in the morning." "You're not freaked?" "What me? No way!" She smiles and hugs me. "Thanks, Jason." She whispers. I smile and hug her back.

*the next day*

Miranda's pov

I hear Jason scream and when I open my eyes that horse is biting his shoe. "Whoa! Heel boy!" I gasp, running over and standing in between the two. He still tried to get to Jason. "You stop that! Bad horse!" Surprisingly he listens. "Just let me keep him til I see the lights and you two can chase each other til your heart's content!" I gasp. The horse neighs, glaring passed me at Jason. "Dumb horse." He mutters dusting himself off. I sigh and turn around. He forces a smile. "Let's get going." I smile and hug him. "Thanks for everything." I whisper. "Y-You're welcome." He stutters. I can't wait to see the lights tonight.
