Kimberly's POV (Chicago)
I ran out of the school gates as fast as I could, I ran and ran, until my feet could no longer take it.
I bent over panting, swiping the dried tears off my face at the same time.
How could this have happened? It is like someone has brainwashed all the students into worshipping her, I mean like how wrong is that!
I still can’t believe my brother would fall for someone like that dirt bag!
Then the realization hit me, Katie is acting just like I used to, how I still do act.
“No!” I yelled at the closest tree. I am not like her, I am better. I am the future Prom Queen and that little conniving bitch will not take it away from me!
I nodded my head in agreement to my statement and walked on towards home.
Looking at my surroundings I actually noticed how nice this day was. There were children swinging on the playground, little girls trying to catch butterflies, mothers rubbing their pregnant stomachs watching the day grow old, and lastly the breeze.
It was the breeze that took me to that calm and quiet place in my mind that was rarely visited, it was a place of solitude, a place where nothing grows old, a place where memories never fade, a place where my father sat on a chair reading to me the tale of Cinderella. It was a place that you can only visit for short periods of time, as I was savouring this visit, I ran straight into a hard rock.
I opened my eyes realizing that I had just run into a tree, “Great just great!” I exclaimed.
I kicked the tree over and over again until I felt a warm comforting hand on my shoulder.
I spun around and came within a millimetres space of one of the cutest guys I had ever seen.
“Woahh” I mumbled, while brushing the hair out of my face with my fingers.
The random cute guy had a newsboy cap on and was wearing thick nerdy glasses, I know it doesn’t sound very adorable, but that smile that lit up his eyes at the same time. (sigh)
The guy coughed to get my attention.
“As I was saying Kimberly try not to walk into many more trees.” He smirked, winked then turned and walked away.
I leant back against the tree, and let out a massive sigh.
I slapped myself in the face and picked myself up and began my trek towards home again.
Soon enough I reached our familiar modern house.
I unlocked the doors and walked in, I could smell the usual hint of timber mixed with my mom’s homemade potpourri , added with a new smell of fresh cardboard?
I opened my eyes and dropped my bag and screamed!
