The next morning I woke up and went right out to the kitchen, where my aunt and mom were drinking coffee and talking. "Hey honey, good morning" my mom said. "Hey" was all I said, I was still kind of half asleep.
It took My mom a while to say anything else.
"Funeral's at 11 am, well it starts at 12, but we have to be there by 11. Make sure you're ready. I have a black top for you to wear with that black skirt of yours." She said. "Okay." I responded.
Maria came out a few minutes later, already dressed in a black strapless dress with a white sweater over top. "Dressed already?" My mom asked. "Well I was up, and felt like getting ready." She said. I didn't even brush my hair yet, and Maria's was completely curled. It was only 9:30 and she was ready to walk out the door.
I watched TV a few more minutes, then my mom told me to get myself ready.
Before I knew it, it was 10:40 ams everyone was rushing to get out the door.
We got there and helped set up. We didn't bother to have a viewing first, we just wanted to get this over with. It was going to be a really painful day.
12:00 was here. Family and close friends began arriving. I saw Sarah's old best friend, Amanda. She was crying. Amanda was always over our house, so I knew her very well, I went over to talk to her.
"Hi Amanda." I said
She look at me, tears in her eyes, and hugged me.
"Carly. I haven't seen you in a while." She said.
"Yeah it's been a pretty tough few weeks" I said.
"I can't imagine what you're going through. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to go through Sarah was my best friend, but she was your sister. I'm so sorry." She said.
"Thanks Amanda." I said.
We hugged one last time and I walked over to my mom.
There she was. My little sister, lifeless In a casket. I couldn't bare the sight of her, it was too hard. But I knew this is the last time I would ever get to see her. I went over to her and look down, "Sarah, keep an eye on us okay? I love you, you'll always be in our hearts." I said and kissed her forehead. I sat back down. The priest was about to come in.
After the small preach, the priest asked if anyone had any words to say. My mom went up. "I-I... Words can't explain how much we will all miss you, baby..." She said, she was about to start sobbing, "Carly." She said and walked off, I guess I have to say something. "Um well Sarah we all love you more than you'll ever know. We'll never forget you, and don't you ever forget us! Make sure you keep an eye on things down here. I really miss you. We all do. But thanks for being the best little sister anyone could ask for, for the last 12 and a half years. I love you so much, Sarah. You're truly an inspiration to us all." I said. My mom, Maria, Aunt Joyce, and even Jackson were crying at this point, but I managed to keep my cool. Well until I sat down, then I cried.
After the service, everyone hugged each other, said last words to Sarah and then we had to bury her.
That part was hard.
But we said a few prayers and sang a few hymns.
And it was over.
