05.

Cold water drops dripped down my hair. I closed my eyes and just let the cool water rinse down my entire body. Soon my vision blurred, and became one again. Cold wind and snow, is what I could see at this moment.

I screamed when the door to the bathroom opened, grabbing a towel, and wrapping it around my body as Amber slowly came into view.

"Wow, you have quite a scream. Scared me, I'll give ya that." She smiled, leaning against the wall, her arms crossed.

"Amber, what are you doing? You scared the poop out of me!" I tried to stop from yelling, but completely failed.

"Oh, relax." She waved me off, as if the situation in which had just happened was completely nothing. She walked towards the mirror which sat overtop the sink, examining her eyelashes.

"Are you excited?" She asked, walking a little too close to the shower curtain, and then backing up. I raised an curious eyebrow, wondering what she meant. Seeing my facial expression caused her to sigh. Before she got to say anything, I put my full body back into the shower and closed the curtains.

"Yah know, are you excited about getting to dance for Aiden?" I heard her footsteps lead back to the mirror. "Not entirely" I smiled, now drying myself with a towel.

"You have real talent there Vanessa"

"Yep. dancing has always been some type of passion of mine since I was a kid." A soft smile laid on my face, but soon disappeared as I thought about the negatives of my childhood. "I never really got to enjoy the feeling entirely. My mom never really paid that much attention to me, and she never really liked me dancing. She used to " I whispered the last part.

I closed my eyes slowly and remembered the smile which used to lay on her face. She was always so cheerful back then. I almost broke into a sob as I thought about how much I missed her.

I needed to put these thoughts behind me, but I couldn't. Thinking about her betraying me by actually loving that monster, just made my heart ache even more. She made her choice, and it wasn't a very smart one. I still feared the day he would strike her, causing her to be weak, yet still in love. I wanted her to open her eyes and see how important I am to her, and not how important I used to be.

I was woken up from my thoughts when Amber's soft voice called me. I looked sideways, only to see her standing there with a worried look on her face, she was holding the curtains tightly. "Are you ok? You're crying" I didn't notice the tear which rolled down my eye, but instead of making up some excuse about it, I ignored it and gave out a loud yet small scream.

"Amber, what are you doing?! I'm naked!" She huffed. "Calm down, I have everything you have.". She let go of it and stepped back. Before walking out I grabbed another towel and swung it around my body calmly.

"That's not really an excuse to walk in on me when you clearly knew I was taking a shower."

"Excuse me for wanting to check up on my clearly sad friend. Besides, you weren't taking a shower anymore. You were just standing there, looking off into space." She laughed.

I stopped in my tracks and almost fist pumped the air excitedly.

she considered me a friend

"Would you like butter for that toast?"

"Yep" I sat down at the very large table and crossed my hands, fiddling with my thumbs.

Apparently I lived here now, with the exception of Aiden's agreement. Amber had told him about how she'd seen me ready to fall asleep on the road side, and he didn't even have to think before he gave me his surprising invitation.

Not soon after the chef sat down my delicious plate full of eggs, toast and pancakes. Aiden came down the palace stairs shirtless, showing of his absolutely drool worthy muscles. I almost dropped all of my food staring at him, while Amber was just sitting down, on her phone while eating, and paying no mind to the situation. I didn't really expect her to gape anyways, since he is her cousin, and it would be disgusting for her to do so....

"Good Morning" He gave his cousin a kiss on the temple, and smirked down at me when he realized I was watching him.

I gripped the fork I was holding tightly, tempted to chop his arms off with it at this very moment.

"Good Morning blinky. You really shouldn't hold your fork that tight. It will probably leave a mark" He took an apple from the basket which sat on the top of the table, taking a large bite out of it. "Whatever" I grumbled, and finished eating my breakfast.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" I ignored his comment.

"hey Vanessa. I was wondering if you'd like to go with me somewhere?" He started walking around, taking another bite out of his apple.

"No thanks" I said coldly. I wasn't really that angry, I just felt like this would be the perfect moment to show no interest.

"Sorry if that sounded like a question, it was meant to be an order. You do owe me a lot. I let you become my dancer- the king's dancer preferably- and I let you move into my palace, so the least you can do is go with me here. It isn't really up to you, now is it?" I raised an eyebrow at him. "I never would have thought you would be the kind of guy to pull the guilt card- yet threaten me" I stood up from my seat, and handed the plate to who I think is the maid, walking up to him.

"Fine, I will go. Better not be somewhere romantic though, or you just might catch yourself falling in love." I joked, leaning in.

"I think I already have." I raised an eyebrow at how good of an actor he was. He seemed so serious. I blushed at the idea of him actually liking me.

Yet another Chapter. Who knows. Maybe I'll finish this story in a short period of time. It is a short story.
