I had been alone all my life. It was all I had ever known, and I feared that I would be all I would ever know. I had never had any contact with any other species of organism, not even my own. I don't know what species I am, but I know that I am not human. The image that pops into my head when I think human certainly would not describe me. I may have had a humanoid figure, humans do not have scales, and no human could have lived as long as I have. Humans also do not have bright sapphire and gold eyes, or wings. I studied my reflection in the curved glass that surrounded me. Every night I fall asleep to sand gently pouring over me. Every morning I wake up beneath the sand, which is still coming in golden cascades. But for the first time, my memory was coming back.
I was Mirianth, the dragon girl.
The sand had climbed higher it had before. It was now up to my chest, and steadily approaching my throat.
Fear me.
I am the oncoming storm.
The sand had surpassed my throat now, the rest of my body paralyzed under its weight.
I was the time girl.
The girl in the hourglass. The sand brushed my earlobes now, and was approaching my nose.
I was the keeper of time.
It had gone past my nose. The fire in my chest turned to ice.
The oncoming storm had been stopped.
I couldn't breathe.
Time would go on without me.
I was suffocating.
I was facing the reality that I was not
Smart.
Beautiful.
Strong.
Important.
But,
I was
Dead.

Cliffhangers
Short StoryThis is a book of just the beginnings of stories that I have scribbled down in notebooks, and spare pieces of paper. Most of them will be cliffhangers, and I will not be doing continuations of any of the chapters, so do not ask. You have been warned.
