I couldn't move, something about him rooted me to the spot, I felt paralyzed. Maybe it was his eyes, Lui and Marcel did tell me to avoid eye contact, is this what they meant?

His eyes were cold, but they were warm at the same time. His grin was sinister, but it was oh so welcoming. And the way he walked with confidence in each step, it was terrifying, yet mesmerizing.

The entourage followed behind him like a phantom, or a shadow, they seemed to move without making a single sound, and the hallway was already dead silent, his footsteps the only thing there.

Click-Clack. Click-Clack.

I knew immediately the group wouldn't be speaking, just him. After all, he seemed to be the one most interested in me, like I was the only person who wouldn't talk to him, and something tells me I was. And he just couldn't stand that.

His voice, oh his voice sounded so friendly, so innocent, yet I still had some part of me screaming deception. Because that's what my friends told me, but where were they now?

Lui had called him a liar. But his eyes shined with truth.

Marcel had called him heartless. Yet his heart stood out amongst his words.

Who do I believe? Them or myself?

"Hey, you're the new kid, right?"

Unfortunately, I was.

----------

In PE, Evan hardly paid attention to the new kid, his main focus now being taken over by his friends, who were slightly worried about his sudden mood change.

Luckily, today the class ran, so they assumed Evan was happy about that, since running was one of his favorite pass times. He was so good at it.

--------

Admittedly, Jonathan was relieved Evan had lost interest in him, yet he was also petrified. From what he had been told, Evan does not give up without a fight. And frankly, he didn't want anything to do with the 'fight' part.

--------

Evan happily ran around the football field, his friends struggling to keep up with him.

"Evan......stop! You're.....too........fast." David panted, attempting to catch his breath mid sentence. Realizing he was going too fast, Evan slowed to a stop so his friends could breathe.

"Sorry about that guys." Evan said, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

"It's....fine." Craig said, still trying to catch his breath.

The coach passed the small group and was about to shout at them to run until he saw that it was Evan, who was the top runner in the school. So he continued to walk past them and yell at another group of kids.

Lucky for Jonathan, he had both Lui and Marcel for this period, so he wouldn't have to worry about Evan alone. Unfortunately, he was on the left side of the two, so when they walked past Evan and his friends he was two inches away from him.

Evan smirked as Jonathan glanced at him, winking towards him as well, the guys being completely oblivious to the ordeal.

Once everyone had finally caught their breath, Evan being the only exception, they decided to just walk, after all, there was no way they couldn't get a 100 when they were running with Evan. And they had already done seven laps when they only had to do five for credit.

------

"We're still on for that sleepover at yours right, Ev?" Tyler asked as the boys exited the locker room, having been released by the coach five minutes before the bell as usual.

"Totally, this weekend is gonna be sick!" Evan exclaimed, smiling. He had been looking forward to the sleepover all week, he couldn't cancel it now, especially since his parents had a business trip and would be gone the entire time.

"Any visit to your house is sick Evan." Tyler said as they approached the classroom all their friends were at. The two boys had just been released from their last period, so they decided to wait for the others.

"What's up bitches? How's it- whoa!" Craig exclaimed as Evan gripped his arm and dragged him towards the hallway where his locker was, the guys following behind him.

"What's the rush, Ev?" Tyler asked, nearly sprinting to catch up with Evan.

Two minutes. Evan thought as he neared the hallway, slowing down once they were near. He turned to his friends with his signature grin. "It's just a part of my plan, so follow my lead." He checked his watch. One minute. Perfect.

Evan started to walk down the hallway at exactly thirty seconds to the bell, smiling when he saw exactly who he was expecting, the new kid. And he was alone, just as expected.

The guys caught on as they saw who was in the hallway. They shuffled behind Evan, knowing he wanted a one on one with Jonathan.

Just a few steps away, Evan called out to the new kid, who was now looking at the group of boys fearfully.

"Hey, you're the new kid, right?" Evan said, stopping at his locker right next to him, just like he had planned on getting something out of it the entire time.

Jonathan gulped, continuing to organize his locker as he answered. "Yeah, why?" The answer had seemed casual enough.

Evan played with his lock, purposely messing up his combination, thinking of his response. "I just like to know everyone in the school," He paused, turning to face him, sticking his hand out. "The names Evan." He smiled that signature smile, a matching friendly look in his eyes.

Jonathan looked at the outstretched hand, debating with himself whether to shake it or not. Evan looked friendly enough, but what concerned him is the skeptical look in his friends eyes. He thought about what Lui and Marcel had told him, that he should avoid Evan at all costs.

But, even if he would hate to admit it, Jonathan trusted the look in his eyes. And he also trusted Lui and Marcel.

"My name is Jonathan, nice to meet you." And he shook Evan's hand.

Evan continued to smile as their handshake turned into a hug. Mission accomplished.

Jonathan closed his locker and walked down the hall, looking forward to going home and telling his parents all about his day.

And to avoid telling Lui and Marcel about his conversation with Evan.

As soon as Jonathan rounded the corner, Evan leaned against his locker and let out a sigh.

"I told you guys, no one can resist my smile."

Especially not a new kid.
