Aarons P.O.V
I sat at the edge of the hospital bed, my rough hands gripping my beautiful mates soft, irresistible ones tightly. I studied Avery's appearance and my wolf howled in sadness, Avery looked so defenseless in the hospital bed, her blond hair was spread upon the soft pillow and her eyeswere closed, her eyelashes brushed her skin beneath her eyes and she looked so peaceful! The only thing that stopped me from grabbing her weak body in my arms and running away from this horrible place was the tube up her nose giving her food and oxygen, and the life support attatched to her. That was the only thing keeping my little Avery alive.
Next to my slumped, dirty body was her parents, who looked just as broken as me. Mrs Starr's eyes were dimmed and her hair was greasy and drooped round her shoulders, her husband looked as though he hadn't slept in weeks.
A polish doctor came in, the one that had been looking after my angel for the two weeks she had been here, his name tag read Mr Kowoski.
"Any good news, doctor?"i desperately asked. The doctor itched his heavily bearded chin and sighed softly, hitching his glasses up his small, snubby nose he replied with a thick accent
"no such luck, no improvement, if she doesn't recover in the next week, we will officially announce her as brain dead and her life support will be turned off" he said sadly.
i growled loudly, making the small man flinch
"I WILL NOT LIVE WITHOUT HER, I CAN'T LIVE WHILE SHE DIES, YOU KNOW WE ARE WOLFS, SHE IS MY MATE, IF SHE DIES I GO WITH HER!" I bellowed, towering over his 4'5 frame with my 6 foot one, he shook anxiously.
"i-i will t-try my b-best s-sir" he whispered before running out the room, next to me, Avery's parents stood with their arms wrapped round each other, wrapped in a huddle with tears streaming down their worn out faces.
"I don't understand" i whispered, tears running tracks down my own face now "why isn't Avery recovering like a wolf? Why does she have to recover like a human?" Her parents looked down sadly at the ground, guiltily almost.
"We couldn't have children, after i had an accident in a rogue battle when i was 16" Mrs Starr whimpered, "we got a human to have a human baby with my husbands sperm, but then inject some more of my wolfs DNA so the child would be completely wolf... they said it had worked! Usually when she gets hurt she usually recovers quickly, but this was a bad accident"
"We read something in a book when Avery was 10 years old, we weren't convinced she was completely wolf, because children of alphas turn into a wolf when they are 8 years old... she didn't morph until she was 13." Mr Starr continued, "but the book said some ancient prophecy about a pure white wolf, who wasn't conceived naturally to gain special powers when she had completed the full mating program, it would also turn into a pure bred wolf, and child of an alpha, now she has you, we want to know if the prophecy is true, we try to keep her out of danger to save her from getting killed, because she could be the best warrior ever born, but other alphas of packs now know about her, and since about 18 months ago, there's been an increase in rogue attacks to go find her. we protect her all we can... but it's impossible, she already has warrior blood and all she wants to do is protect her future pack."
"Does she know about this?" i whispered.
"No... she wouldn't be as difficult if she knew.... we were going to tell her that night after your date... but we never had the chance" Avery's mum simply said, clutching her hands.
I still loved Avery with all my heart, but now i knew a secret even she didn't know about herself.
please please please wake up Avery, i need you... our whole pack needs you.
