The pain from the eye removal was too surreal for Atalo. He had blacked out from the pain, and was still recovering in a bedroom on the third floor of the mansion. After six whole days, he still hadn't woken up from his coma and required Madge to almost always watch over him. Her healing magic was the only thing keeping Atalo alive.
Nero and Madge would visit twice a day, every day, but only to check on his condition. Madge seemed to have cared a little bit more than Nero, but denied caring about him if he died.
Serena was at Atalo's bedside every moment she could be. In someway, she felt responsible for his eye removal, even if she did nothing for the unfortunate event to happen.
At times, Serena would talk to Atalo despite the silent response. She found it comforting, believing it was the way he would eventually wake up, listening to her voice.
Raven was the only person not to visit Atalo yet. She — just like Serena — felt responsible. The only difference was Raven was responsible for Atalo's injury. She asked Nero about Atalo everyday, although never got a proper response. Nero would laugh coldly and say, "Why would it matter? He deserved it!"
On his seventh day of being knocked out cold, Atalo had started to feel a small part of him waking up. He had a dream, and he definitely wasn't meant to have those.
Although it was a dream, Atalo felt as though it were more of a memory. It was him and Delvin, exploring a cave by themselves at age nine.
They had been exploring for hours, finding new and exciting rooms that had gold and diamonds buried into the wall. They had even tried to pull the beautiful gems out, only to fail and fall back onto the cavern floor.
To Atalo, that was one of his favourite moments with Delvin. Even though they were scolded heavily by their parents later that day, they didn't care. It was the best experience that they could have had.
Soon, however, the dream came to an end. Delvin had gone home and Atalo had climbed up on to the roof of the house. But just before the dream ended, he felt a weird but mysteriously good burning on his skin. It wasn't painful, but more like he was being touched by sunlight in the winter when it was freezing.
Slowly, Atalo's eyelids lifted slowly. He stared at Serena who was peering over him. She was smiling but also crying.
"Madge!" Serena called. "Madge! He's awake!" She looked down at Atalo and touched his head. "I'll be back in a moment, Atalo." She stood up and ran out of the room, calling for Madge and Nero.
Atalo couldn't comprehend what was going on. He could barely see and felt incredibly lightheaded. His head hurt like hell too.
Serena came running back into the room with Raven — who looked disgusted by Atalo's appearance.
"He's awake, Raven!" Serena needlessly announced. Raven rolled her eyes at Atalo.
"So?" Raven asked, folding her arms.
"So go and find Madge! Please!" Raven rolled her eyes once again and reluctantly agreed with a, "Fine." She left the room and slammed the door behind her.
"Hey ..." Atalo muttered, smiling at Serena.
Serena sat down and wiped the tears away from her eyes. "Hi," she moped.
"What ... What happened ...?" He asked, looking around. Why was he half-blinded? Only his left eye could see, so why was his right not working?
