Drowning

I'm treading water beneath a smooth surface
That hides a greater fault.
My head is just above the ripples
But it's not going to escape.
Because I'm growing tired now
I feel I'm going to fall
To slip silently under
Arms above the tide
Before they too are claimed.
Sitting in the embrace of my
Murderer. Not trying to escape
I keep sinking.
My eyes are stung by the waves
My lungs are screaming fire
But it's a peaceful death, oh,
It's a peaceful death
To drown beneath the tide.
To drown beneath the sea.
