Arthur's P.O.V
"Sire...why don't you take a seat?"
I looked at Gaius and I shook my head at his suggestion. I can't just sit and relax. Not after the information I have received.
"I just want to know where he is."
At that moment I realized I was showing more emotion towards Merlin then I ever had before, yet Gaius didn't looked shocked nor bothered.
"I know you do. But, we cannot go against his wishes, Arthur. He deserves to be respected."
"I know he does but- why now? Why did he have to leave right now?"
Why now? When I need him the most. When I wanted him. When I wanted him to know the truth as well. Both of us stayed silent and I paced the room as I rubbed my face.
"Arthur, you're going to get married."
I looked back at Gaius and stayed silent as I did.
"If you really believe you don't want this marriage and you want something, someone else, then speak up, boy. All you've ever done is do as Uther tells you and look at where that lead you."
He was right.
Because I was always trying to please father, I have now lost the one person I had left.
*~*~*~*~*~*
I walked back to my chamber after having spoken with Gaius. I closed the door, asking the guards to lock it and to not open it unless I allowed. I wanted to be by myself. I knew I was being dramatic by locking myself, but if I didn't, I wouldn't get some alone time.
I sighed as I sat down and rubbed my face.
Merlin was gone. I had an idea of where he went, thought I do have a theory of where. It would only make sense, unless he truly wanted nothing with me, he would go somewhere I couldn't find him. Though if he did go to Ealdor, I mustn't follow. He was home and he was away from it all. From Camelot, from me.
There was a reason Gaius didn't tell me. A reason why Merlin didn't want me to know. I had no other choice than to respect him and what he wanted, but I knew I couldn't. Not without knowing if he'll ever come back. That was another thing Gaius couldn't tell me, simply because Merlin didn't say either.
There was a knock on my door and I looked towards it.
"Do not unlock." I said as I walked to my bed.
"It's me. Kaila."
I stayed silent as I stopped walking as I looked towards the door.
"Please respect my decision and walk away. I will not open that door."
"Arthur. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here. I'll help in any way I can."
I looked away and walked towards my bed, laying down. I would never open up to anyone other than Merlin, Gwen, and Lancelot. Even Morgana , but she's long gone. I bet she could've helped more than Kaila could at the moment.
Times like these I missed her. We're siblings. And I wish I had her here with me. But I know that can't ever happen. All I can do now is hope she's doing well by herself and that I can see her in the near future.
"I don't know what's going on. And I will not bother you into telling me, but I know we are meant to get married. And as a married couple, we cannot be locking ourselves away from one another. Communication is key, isn't it? Talk to me. I will listen and I will be the support of your side. Just...let me in."
I listened to her speak and I shook my head. We aren't a married a couple and I didn't want us to be, yet there was nothing I could do or say. I pulled the covers over my body as I closed my eyes. It wasn't long until I heard the footsteps descend. She was gone.
I sighed, looking up at the velvet red sheet that covered the top of my bed. It instantly reminded me of that stupid red scarf Merlin uses when he had a blue shirt on. Or sometimes he changes them. A red shirt, with a blue scarf. There was even a time he wore a purple shirt and it was the most stunning color on him. I instantly smiled at the thought of him, and I knew then that I had to find him.
I had to before I got married. Gaius was right when he said I needed to speak up. And I planned on doing so as soon as I found him. I stood up from my bed and fixed on my boots. I looked around and grabbed what I needed, being only my jacket and sword. I didn't plan on putting on my armor for it would only take time. I made my way to the door when it was unlocked and opened, I watched as my father walked in.
"Father."
"What is the meaning of this?" He asked, his tone quickly spitting anger.
"I just needed some alone time," I responded, trying to sound as calm as possible.
"You have pushed Princess Kiala away. Why? She is your future wife!"
I furrowed my brows as I looked at him, "Why do you care? You already arranged this stupid marriage, don't tell me how to treat her!"
"You will treat her like she's your wife!" He exclaimed.
I raised a brow and shook my head. She is not my wife and I will not treat her as that.
"I've had enough of you father. And just so you know, I do not plan on marrying her. I do not want to marry her."
He looked at me as if he just saw a ghost. I looked straight into his eyes so he'd know I was being serious and I started to walk away before he spoke again.
"Why is that? Because she isn't some manservant."
I froze in place. I slowly turned to look at my father and I saw anger yet mockery run across his face. He knows. Of course he knows. That is why he was pushing this. It finally makes sense that as usual, he did not do this to make my happy, no. He did it to make himself look good.
"You think I didn't notice?" He asked. "Everyone in this damn palace can see it. For goodness sake, you've even risked your life for that filthy boy."
"Don't you dare call him that." I spoke lowly.
He smirked as he looked at me, "Call him what? A filthy boy? Well that's all he is. He is a manservant. He is a man to top it off. You're such a disgrace. A huge disappointment!"
"Guess it runs in the family! You! Morgana! Me!" I stayed silent for a second, "On second thought, Morgana is the least disappointing one. At least she did what was right and left as soon as she could. Away from everything that was harming her. Away from you!"
"Don't you dare bring her into this!"
"Or what?! What will you do, father ?!"
He stayed silent and he was about to storm off but he stopped. He turned to look at me.
"You will stay here. And you will not leave this room until you agree to marry Princess Kaila. And if that boy dares come between you both, I will not hesitate to have him executed."
My eyes widened and I felt anger course through out my whole body. How could he be so cold?
"You wouldn't.."
"Watch me."
He made his way out and I followed after him.
"He is missing! I have to go find him!"
Yet he ignored me. He made his way out and the door was closed and locked before I could make my way out. I rattled at the door, trying to get it opened.
"Father!"
