Cassidy threw her phone onto her bed and sighed. Jamie would be arriving in Wales tomorrow and she hadn't spoken to him since their phonecall earlier. She had drafted several texts, but they either seemed too desperate or too distant to send. Jamie hadn't bothered sending any either, though she figured that his was a completely different reason to being nervous about meeting her. She wasn't completely right, but she wasn't all wrong either.

It was Jamie's last day in England for a week, and he was nervous about that fact for many reasons.
For one, he didn't know what clothes to pack. Would white tees and black leather jackets be too cliché for Cassie? Would she think skinny jeans were only meant for girls? What about joggers? Would they be too casual?
He also panicked about what aftershave to take, and what to wear his hair like. He had stuck to the same, woodsy smelling, cologne for years, and his hair had been spiked slightly to the left since he decided to cut it from the shoulder length mess he once sported two years ago. But that suddenly didn't matter, because what if Cassidy didn't like it? What if his cologne was too sickly for her? His hair too short, or pointing in the wrong direction?
It took a lot of reassurance from his older sister, along with actually packing his bag for him, for his nerves to calm down slightly. But realising that he could only be himself for Cassie left more room to worry about other things.
Like his mum. It had only been two months since his dad had passed away, and already he was leaving his mum to live in their big house on her own. She promised she'd be okay. That she'd phone every day and that her only other child - his two year older sister, Jennifer - would be there to look after her. It didn't reassure Jamie any more, though. He heard her at three o'clock every morning, crying into his pillow - the one that she hadn't been brave enough to wash yet. He saw the way her eyes glazed over every time she passed the family portrait they had framed in the hall way.
"She'll be fine." Jennifer reassured him, her hand subconsciously rubbing her swollen stomach as she stood in the door way to his room one night. "She's a tough cookie."
Jamie nodded, not believing a word. Sure, she acted like a brave woman in front of her children, but that was just a mother's duty. Behind closed doors, when she thought that no one was watching, Jamie knew that she broke down.
He watched his sister wince in pain as she walked away after packing his navy suitcase, and that's when his worrying began again. Even if he could only be himself for Cassie, even if his sister was going to be there for his mum, what was going to happen if Jennifer went into labour? He couldn't miss the birth of his first niece, and he couldn't expect his two favourite women to cope on their own if anything went wrong. Okay, so Jennifer's fiancé would be there, but Jamie felt that - since the devastating passing of his father - it was his duty to be the man of the family now.
As if she had read his mind, Jennifer was stood back at the door way to his bedroom within minutes. She ran a hand through her long brown hair and smiled warmly at her little brother. "And don't worry about me either. I'll be fine. We'll all be fine. Now go to your band meeting before you have a mental break down. Maybe they can get you excited."
Jamie took one look at the stern expression on his sister's face and knew that not obeying her orders would only end badly for him, so he grabbed his denim jacket and left. The whole ten minute walk to the coffee shop in the center of his home town consisted of only one thought running through Jamie's head like a mantra.
There's only one person who has the ability to get me excited for our visit to Wales... Her.
His three band mates and childhood friends were already sat huddled around a laptop with steaming cups of coffee in their hand. Jamie noticed a fourth mug set on the table waiting for him, and knew that it was his closest friend Dan's doing.
