Jeremy automatically lunged at the dining room light switch and flicked it off. "Hide in the closet in the basement! Now!" Chester's father yelled.
Chester followed his mother quickly into the entertainment room and to the basement door, while Jeremy ran into every room to make sure the lights were off.
He soon rushed through the basement door, locked it, and sprinted dangerously fast down the long stairs. The basement was huge. It had two pool tables, an aquarium, a hot tub, a bar, and a television.
Jeremy was just entering the closet with his family when the sound of shattering glass sounded from upstairs.
Chester and his parents listened as best as they possibly could to the muffled voices of the intruders.
"Are you sure someone is here? If there isn't then we are wasting valuable murdering time." A grainy voice shouted.
"Oh shut up would ya? I promise I saw some lights on in here. I can wait to sink my knife into someone's throat!" A male's strong voice shot back.
"Scout the house." Someone shouted."Kill anyone you see. It's our time to shine!."
Christine hugged her son and husband harder. Minutes felt like hours as the three sat in the dark basement closet just waiting for the murderers to find them.
Tick, tock, tick, tock, the wall clock said, reminding the three that they were still alive.
Not a shout or footstep had been heard until the basement door's doorknob rattled.
At this, Chester's mother broke out in a silent sob, "I'm not ready to die. I don't wanna die." Chester wanted to cry too but held it back somehow.
Then there came a pounding on the door. A hard, heavy repeating impact.
"Open this door." Said a woman's voice...
