Chapter 2

Leah's POV:

I looked at the request board with Iris on my head as I looked through the different flyers all difficult even for newbies to go on. 'Well this is going to be a problem.. guess we should find one that has a less pay.' I thought then hummed a bit. "See something that catches your eye Iris?" I asked the cat as she looked at all the different jobs.

"Why don't we do this one?" She flew over to the flyer and picked it up I hummed seeing its asking to slay a serpent. "No lets not go near water." I reminded her and Iris quickly puts away the flyer. "Looking for a job newbie?" I turned my head as two guys came up to the request board. "I have a name." I muttered softly. "Just something decent I can go on." I replied as I glance at the request board again. "If I recall, you're the one that used devil slayer magic." The guy who looks fancy asked as I nodded my head in response to his question. "Olga, Rufus." I turned my head and see a lady wearing a blue dress as her hair is partly up in twin buns but the rest is down.

"Why don't you two take the job on the left I need to talk to newbie here." She says as a smirk is playing on her lips. "You did well with yesterday's performance, though I wouldn't take that victory for granted. Father didn't hear but holding back is something we don't allow. If we could I'm sure you wouldn't last against the white dragon. Next time don't hold back newbie we aren't a weak a guild. Know your place before you join the strongest guild."

Iris's POV:

I watched the chic walk off I was about to scratch her pretty little face till Leah grab me before I got the chance to. "Don't..." "Are you going to take that? Why don't you fight back?" I yelled at my partner as Leah let go then walked away from the request board and into a booth farthest away from people. 'Why... I never understood why you let people do this to you.' I thought as I flew out of the guild.

'If I can't snap her out of it then I doubt Yukino can...'

Leah's POV:

I heard the guild hall doors open as I watch Iris leave the guild. 'Sorry Iris.' I thought then pulled my legs close to me as bury my face. I don't know how long I have stayed in this position but the constant noise next to me is really getting on my nerves. I looked too quick as I slightly since at the sudden light hitting my eyes.

"Finally awake?" I rubbed my eyes as a dark haired male sat next to me as I looked at him cautiously. "You know if you were going to sleep you could of went home." He stated and now I want to kick him out of the way. "How long?" I asked slightly hoarse as I slowly stretched my legs out to the floor as he placed a cup of water down out of no where.

"About 6 hours." he said as I slightly chocked on the liquid and looked at him as if he was joking. The silence between us went on for a while, I couldn't help but get lost in his red eyes. "Rogue! There you are." I quickly looked and held onto the glass as my cheeks flushed pink slightly. 'I just arrived here.. I can't I don't know anything about him.' I thought then blinked when I felt a slight tug on my cloak.

I turn my head and see an exceed wearing a pink frog costume "Fro wants to meet Rogue's new friend!" The little exceed said I couldn't help but smile at the cute exceed as my thoughts slowly drifted to Iris "gomen.. I need to go find Iris." I muttered softly and managed to get pass Rogue as I jogged out of the guild to find Iris only the problem is I don't know where she will be.

Rogue's POV:

I watched as her hood came down from her getting out of the booth and silver hair came into view once she went outside. "So.. why did you pick this spot to wait?" Sting asked as I got up giving him no response. "No reason." I said and looked over at my annoying partner as he has a grin on his face.

"You like her don't you?" He asked as I then walked off with Frosch tailing behind. "Hey I was just kidding!" Sting yelled out and followed soon after with Lector as we left the guild. "But seriously do you like her? She just arrived." Sting said and again ignored him. 'I can't be sure... she is definitely different than anyone.' I thought and spotted a shimmer of silver turning to the right. The scent of roses, iris, lily and jasmine hit my nose, the intoxicating scent when I sat next to her. "Oi Rogue?" I snapped out of my trance and see Sting staring with his eyes narrowed slightly.

Leah's POV:

I ran around town trying to find Iris and its already getting dark, "should I check back at the house?" I muttered softly then looked around and the only light source is the moon. "I don't know where I am." I frowned slightly then quickly pulled my hood up once I heard footsteps 'please go away please go away.' I thought as I clutch onto my hood wishing for the echoing footsteps go away.

"Huh? Well what is a little lady doing all the way out here?" His voice slurred and the presence of another person is nerve wrecking. I didn't want to speak, but I know I will have to sooner or later. 'I wish Iris is with me.. I don't want to be alone.' I thought then stiffen at the sudden contact "Not a talker? Maybe I could get you to scream instead." He said and I shivered in disgust. "Why don't we get a better look at you."

"No." I muttered and forced my frozen body to move as I ran out of the alley way I stopped as the path splits either left or right, I looked both ways as the echoing footsteps is not too far and I ran left still stuck in this endless maze of alley ways. 'No.. a dead end.' I thought as I panted and hit the wall. 'Damn it did I make a wrong turn?' I quickly looked around to find another exit.

"Crystal make: pillar." I muttered as the pillar slowly moved up, I was about to ease my nerves except I was no longer on the pillar I winced in pain that shot up through my body. 'How.. I made so many sharp turns.' I thought as my vision is blurry "can't escape now, you got a rare kind of magic, I'm sure the boss will love to have you." The same guy said sober now. 'Damn it..' I tried to get up and held my head and felt something wet on my hand. "Heh you're pretty tough girly lets see how long you can last."

I didn't need my sight to fight, I can hear the movements he is making. "Crystal knight." I stumbled slightly as a loud clang rang in my ears. "What the?" "Crystal hawk" I raised my hand then gave it a one word command as it flew off. "I don't know what you are thinking but this battle will be over soon."

The battle soon ended, I was about to collapse till I felt the sudden pull up in the air. That was when I was out. I woke up in a dim room as I wince slightly in pain as a headache made its way to pound my head in. "Finally awake?  You were lucky I came just as the battle ended." Iris said in her human form as she kicked her legs slightly then jumped off the bed as she slapped my head. "Ow Iris what was that for?" I wince as another pound to the head from the slap mixing with the headache hurts so much. "For being reckless! You idiot you got me worried when you suddenly passed out on me the minute I took out off the ground. Your cloths were torn and you were almost covered in blood!" She yelled as I stayed quiet. She sighed then poofed back into her cat form and curled up against my arm and stayed there. "I'll stay with you until you wake up again.. Get some rest ok?" Iris said as I nodded my head then let sleep take over.

Rogue's POV:

"I knew it." Sting muttered as I looked at my partner giving him a blank look. "Dude, are you staring into nothing, you looked at a wall with a hard gaze as if someone was there and you are now growling every time someone other than her walks into the guild and you almost attacked Yukino when she walked in." Sting listed out as I just continue to stare at my partner. "Rogue... you are showing signs is she your mate?" I didn't answer. I knew the answer I just couldn't bring myself to say it. Not with Master Jiemma nearby I can't risk it.

"Rogue... if she is your potential mate you better pray to the gods that Master Jiemma doesn't find out he will make sure her life is a living hell every time she steps foot in the guild hall." Sting warned as I sighed. "I know.. I just didn't think it would happen."
