CHAPTER 4

The rest of the ride was silent, exept some whimpers from Carl and the others. "im sorry'' Carol said as she sat beside me. I didnt respond. And even if I did, what would I say? It soon was almost pitch black except for the headlights, so I decided to go to bed. I looked around and everyone else was sleeping also. I wondered how long all the people would live. I thought Lizzie would live, but we know what happened to her. I rolled over and saw Carol covering her face. "what's wrong?'' I said. ''I was just wondering if my little girl Sophia is still alive. I lost her when we got overrun. We don't know if she is still alive, and Lizzie was her sister.'' she said as she cried. ''im so sorry Carol. I would have saved her if I could. I should have been faster im sorry.'' I told her. ''It's not your fault Katarina. It could have happened anytime.'' She said with a forced smile. I smiled back I wonder what happened to the rest of her family. If she had a brother,sister ,or a husband. I felt bad for Carol. She had lost 2 of her girls and now she loved me. I just don't know how I would be able to live if she died. I made a pact with myself to make sure she is safe at all times- I thought before I fell to sleep.
