Chapter Eight
----------------------
Alright, I guess it was unavoidable. No matter how much I will the clock to slow the freak down. I had one more period to go until the end of school and it seemed to be moving faster than a chicken with its head cut off. Which I have seen before mind you, those bastards move pretty dang fast.
Every time my spanish teacher would ask a question I would say I didn't understand hoping she would suggest staying after school. After she gave us the final hasta luego we all walked out the classroom. Some students were getting a head start on their homework while I was muttering plenty of profanity under my breath.
As I walked to my locker I heard students talking about this weird event where lovesick couples send roses to that special person. I find it pretty idiotic that someone would buy a rose for a person that they were probably going to break up with the next week. Such is high school I guess.
I went over to my locker and stuffed my things inside the tall thing and grabbed a pen, paper and textbook before heading off to world history. Personally I don't get world history, I mean its history and half the crap I learn doesn't seem like id be helpful in the future. Maybe its to pick out the historians and archaeologists from the normal people in the working field. If thats the case then I let it be known... I don't care for history.
I stepped into the classroom that was filled with a bunch of archaeological fossils and things the teacher had gotten from parts of the world when he used to be a archaeologist. Thats a perk I guess, getting to travel alot. Though the places are normally hotter than monkey balls, dry and everyone is covered up like mummies so checking people out is out of the equation.
I guess having the brains of a genius isn't that great when you consider the conditions you work in. I took a seat in the back of the room and plugged in my headphones. This class was pretty laid back for me. If I didn't raise my hand I wasn't called on, simple as that. All I needed was to be able to answer questions on tests, quizzes and other worksheets that he gave out and I would have a guaranteed A. Which I had by the way.
Lucky for me there was a window that I could look out of. It only showed me an empty grassy field but it was better than nothing. Nothings more relaxing than watching an empty grassy field... except everything. Yeah I could really enjoy watching a animal die more than slowly watching grass die. I mean... at least the animal would move a bit... maybe even make a few sounds and holy crap I sound like a sadist.
When the teacher sat down in his seat and started working on his computer I checked the clock. Less than a minute left, less than a minute before tryouts. Which also means I had less than a minute to finish wishing for time to stop.
Tick
Tock
Tick
Tock
Tick
Tock. The clock hand slowly made that constant sound. No matter how hard I stared at the clock it didn't seem to stop. If anything at all it seemed to speed up a bit. With less than ten seconds to finish freaking out I turned my I-pod off and gathered my things, finishing just before the dreaded 'DING' sounded.
I followed the large crowd out of class jotting down my homework as I went. When I closer to my locker my cell started to vibrate in my pocket. Shifting my books in one arm I reached into my pocket and grabbed my cell. "Change of plans, meet me outside by the gym before tryouts." It read.
I made it to my locker and grabbed my things for tryouts. 'Ok outside the gym got it.' I said to myself as I walked into the bathroom and changed into my tryout uniform. It consisted of black and red basketball shorts that were shorter than I would've liked, thanks to Koren, a Black Veiled Brides custom made jersey and a pair of Nike sneakers since im sure Converses wouldn't have sufficed. The only thing I was missing was my Team Jacob band for my arm, sadly I forgot to grab it this morning but oh well I guess i'll have to suffer without it.
