Chapter Five

---------------------------

I woke up with my cell vibrating the hell out of my head. I turned over and picked up my cell. It was a text from Koren 'Get ready i'll be there in an hour' the text read. Groaning I dragged myself out of bed. I checked the clock to see it was eight in the morning.

Who the hell gets up at freaking eight am. I hopped in the shower and got dressed before heading down the stairs.

I made a quick breakfast and sat down in the kitchen and waited. My dad walked down around fifteen minutes later wearing skinny jeans and a red button up with a black tie. "That doesn't look very business like." I said as he slipped on a pair of Nikes.

He laughed and started to apply what looked like mascara. "Im an architect not a lawyer." He said as he finished.

"Is that..mascara?" I asked.

"Mhm." He said as he finished.

"Dad that's weird...especially coming from you!" I said as I made a face.

"No its not weird it extends my lashes and makes my eyes pop...plus its hella sexy." He said as he did a mock pose.

"I swear im the parent here." I yelled to him.

"What was that?" He called back.

"Err I said its apparent there are no deer." I said making up the first thing to pop in my head. He came around and kissed my head before heading off to work. Koren showed up afterwards and I got in the car.

We pulled into a park and got out of the car. "Alright were going to run some laps." She said as we walked towards a grassy area. Her hair was tied back and though she had long sleeves on as usual she wore a pair of short basketball shorts.

"Runing...ok sounds umm fun." I said as I started to jog beside her.

We ran around a path in a forest a few times before I started to get tired. Koren's stamina was amazing this didn't even seem to faze her. The morning sun was starting to fly high in the sky. She passed me easily without even breaking a sweat. I struggled to keep up with her as we rounded our twelfth lap. My muscles ached and my heart was pounding out my chest as we sat down on the bleachers for a small rest.

"Ok your stamina sucks so we're going to work on that some more tomorrow. Now let's start on your passing skills." She said as she got up and grabbed two balls from her bag, ok i'll admit it I stared at her ass. She turned around abruptly and I pointed my head towards the ground to watch the plants grow.

We were stood at opposite ends of each other when she thrust the ball towards my chest. I swatted it away from me and sent her a look.

"Come on Keeley its just a chest pass." She said as she retrieved the ball and did it again. I ducked under the ball this time and the ball breezed over my head.

"Come on catch the ball alright, if you can't catch a chest pass then what good are you going to be on the team!" She yelled as she thrust the ball again. I put my hands in front of my body and forcibly exhaled all my of breath as the ball boomed off my chest.

"Damn." I gasped as I steadied myself. I copied what she did and propelled the ball forward towards her chest and she caught it with ease.

"Was that so hard?" She said laughing as I pumped my fist in the air. We repeated it again until I got the hang of it.

"Not really." I said as I thrust the ball back to her.

"Alright next lesson, the bounce pass. You would normally fake a move on an opponent and bounce the ball under their arms. Since we have no other people to play against yet just work on bouncing it to me." She said as she bounced it towards me.

The bounce pass wasn't even hard at all. Every now and then I would bounce too hard and it would fly over her head but other than that it was pretty easy. She switched it up by having us use the two balls and while I was bounce passing to her she would chest pass to me, so the two balls would be on opposite vertical angles when they reached us halfway.

After a few mishaps we had a good rhythm going and the balls were making a weird oval shape as we began to move faster. Before long my arms got tired and the last pass flew over my head when I ducked.

Koren smiled in satisfaction as she went to get the ball "Your not hopeless." She said as she packed the balls up in her bag. "Alright twelve more laps and then were done for the day." She said as she stretched. I gave her a disbelieving look a she finished readying herself.

She raised her eyebrows "What? No pain no gain now get your ass up." She laughed out. I trudged beside her as we began our first lap.

When we finished those horrid twelve laps we headed towards the showers. I dropped my stuff off in one of the lockers and headed in

I sighed in bliss as the hot water soothed my aching muscles. I looked behind me to see Koren washing her hair. I focused on the back of her lower arms and had to suppress a gasp when I saw the lines upon lines of scars didn't end at her arms they went on around her forearms. I looked at the red scars until she turned her water off and I had to turn around so she didn't see me staring at her almost flawless body.

I quickly turned off my water and got dressed and we walked back to the park after depositing our clothes in her car. "So how was that?" She asked as we walked past a playground.

I still wasn't over what I saw so I forced a smile on my face "It was pretty intense." I said as a ball rolled towards me from a group of kids playing dodge ball. A little kid came running up to me as I picked up the ball. I tossed him the ball and he beamed up at me before running off to finish playing with his buddies.

"Yeah well the first day is always intense, but don't worry soon this will be a piece of cake." She said a we stopped in front of an ice cream vendor. "I'll take a double vanilla scoop and," she looked over to me " double mint chocolate chip?" She guessed.

"Yeah actually!" I said surprised as I was handed my favorite cold dessert. We finished walking through the park and hopped in the car.

"So same time tomorrow?" She asked a we drove home. I nodded, shifting my position in the seat while the wind blew over me. My whole body hurt like hell and I couldn't wait to get home so I could rest.

"Here we go." She said as she pulled up to my house.

"Alright bye you evil torture monkey." I joked as I turned around and smiled at her. I was about to get out before she turned me around. Her finger slid over my cheek before she pulled it back tasting it and let out a long 'mmm'.

"Mint chocolate ice cream is actually pretty good." She said as she giggled.

"Yeah it is!" I exclaimed. I waved to her as I walked inside. After I closed the door I slumped down on the floor smiling along the way and im sure as hell it wasn't just from exhaustion.
