I awoke with joy, feeling rejuvenated and slept the best since I became conscious again. I felt like I could destroy an army! I looked at the other side of the bed. It's empty. I got out of bed and slipped on my shirt. I wandered around and looked for someone, but only found Zachary. He was meditating? I shrugged and asked him "Where's the others? And Summer?"
Without opening his eyes, He pointed to a door across from him. I thanked him and he did a quick salute. I went to the door, knocked, and opened the door. They were all sitting at a table the size of a ping-pong court, and sipping coffee. Summer waved me over to a mug steaming and a plate of bacon. I got wide-eyed and sat down faster than you could say "Mesopotamia." I devoured the bacon and tried to annihilate my coffee, but sadly, coffee is hot. I sipped with joy and smiled at everyone. They gave me horrified looks, except for Summer. She just smiled and giggled. I smiled a Bacon-y smile and slowly drained my coffee. Then I rapped the table and said joyfully "Alright, what are we doing today! I'm ready to go!"
They exchanged looks and said " I guess you could start by doing clearings."
I blinked and blankly aid "What are clearings?"
Bill rolled his eyes and said "Clearing buildings for hostages, dude. How can you be so boss and not know what that is?"
I shrugged. He laughed. "Okay." I said
An hour passed and finally we were in the truck, driving towards the nightmare known as Seattle. The shamblers were blocking the road. Bill sped through them and sent corpses raining from the heavens. I did a fist pump and was giddy for some action. I asked for a weapon. They hand me an AR-15 and said "Go crazy."
I opened the window and fired at everything that moved. The Zombies started to stir, they started running and sprinting to us. I cursed in rapid-fire sailor and rolled up the window. "Step on it!"
Bill grunted and sped forward faster than the speed of sound. We suddenly came to a screeching halt and arrived at a tall building that was almost literally falling apart at the seams. It was chipped and destroyed in some places. There was no roof, or 25% of the building for that matter. It was almost raining bricks and rock on our head. I looked up and then at Bill. He was grinning at me. "Ready?" I nodded. "Good, cause it's about to get messy!" He spun his machete.
"Well, you coming or what?" said Mark. He flashed his machine gun and hurried in.
"Hey wait, where's Zachary? I thought he was coming too?" I asked
"He's here, He's just posted up somewhere and sniping. You'll never see him until he drops the zombies." Bill answered
I shrugged and went inside. I immediately knew that this gun was gonna come in handy. The zombies were everywhere. I couldn't walk two steps in any direction without being surrounded. I clicked my gun's safety and mowed them down like blades of grass. They came from all directions, like mice from a hole. I kept firing, but ran out of ammo. I ran upstairs and out of the way. I looked around the corner to two people cowering in the corner, pistols in hand. They were a young couple, obviously just got here. "It's okay." I extended my hand. "We're the good guys."
BANG! Zachary was sniping up top. I could tell he hit a couple, because Bill and Mark were hollering "Nice shot!" and "That's another one down!"
"Take my hand! We need to leave." I said to the survivors. They grabbed my hand and I pulled them up. "Follow me!" I waved them forward. They ran after me and we crashed down stairs. The zombies were surrounding Mark and Bill. They were being attacked faster than Zack could shoot them down. I grabbed my rifle and freed Mark. Then the survivors shot at the ones trying to get Bill. I shot down more and cleared a path. The zombie seemed endless, like an ocean with never ending waves. I ran outside and the others followed. We all packed into the car as quickly as we could and sped off.
We later arrived back at the base, and dropped off the survivors. We took a break and I grabbed a bite to eat. Zachary was already home when we got back, which at this point I didn't find surprising. I ate my food, hung out with Summer and relaxed the rest of the day. I felt accomplished and continued my day. The survivors were given a couple days to rest and food and water, as well as a couple new weapons. They were sent off and they disappeared off into the horizon. I relaxed and passed out on the sofa while summer sat with me. We just sat in silence...
