Chapter Six

I could not believe that I'd just basically told him upfront that I want to be his best friend. I bet he thinks that I'm some sort of obsessive weirdo now. I stopped in my path and had stood frozen. It took a few seconds for him to realise that I'd stopped, but as soon as he did, he stopped too.

"You're a bit late for your lesson. So...you take me to find Mr Harryson and I'll tell your teacher that you were with me. Deal?" I nodded and agreed with him, as we resumed walking. We then talked about a few things before I asked something.

"Why'd you ask me who Mr Harryson is, when you could've easily asked Miss Atherston or Miss Stobiant?" I felt as though I was prying into his thoughts and I didn't want him to feel like I was annoying, but I was really curious.

Once, again he shrugged his shoulders and then said "Dunno...I thought that they were busy...I think they both had a class". It did make sense, as I did hear a lot of noise from both of their classrooms.

"Well...here we are. That's him, Mr Harryson" I said while pointing to the man who was sat on a table top at the back of the classroom, from behind the glass wall. He was dressed up quite nicely, but I knew he had a thing for fashion. He wore a dark blue dress shirt, matched with grey trousers and grey waistcoat. He also wore a black belt paired with black shoes. Although across the room was another lady, which I gathered would be our cover teacher.

"He looks scary" he said, looking at Mr Harryson as if he were a monster.

"Well he's not" I replied, laughing at him. He knocked on the wooden door and walked in first, holding the door for me as I walked in.

"Yes, ah...Octavia take a seat" Mr Harryson said whilst looking deeply into Mr Schmidt's eyes. I walked over to my seat and sat down on the black stool-like chair.

"I have a meeting, with you now, and Octavia is late because she was with me" Mr Schmidt said sternly trying to act confident and professional. However you could clearly tell that he was trying his very best to look serious, which made me giggle.

"Yes you do" Mr Harryson replied, jumping down off of the table. "Right...I've set stuff for them to do and I'll be back in about 20 minutes" he said looking at the lady in the corner. She walked over to his desk and sat down in his seat, while he walked out together with Mr Schmidt. My seat was on the opposite side of the classroom to Maria's, so I couldn't tell her about what had happened; I'd have to wait until the lesson was over.

30 minutes passed before Mr Harryson came back in, without Mr Schmidt. I presumed that he'd gone back to his own classroom. We had around 15 minutes left, but I couldn't wait to tell Maria.

10 minutes to go now. Urgh. The time is going so slow, I just want to get out of this classroom and talk to Maria.

5 more minutes. Why is it going so slow?

"Time to pack up now! Put your books in the box and textbooks over there" Mr Harryson shouted, but all I could think about was how much I wanted to speak to Maria about what had happened. I walked past Maria to put my textbook on the pile in the corner and whispered "I have some news to tell you". I smirked and she looked confused, as I walked further away from her and then carried on walking. I put my textbook on the pile and then turned to go back to my own seat. Mr Harryson examined the room and finally said "Alright, you may go now"

I caught up with Maria to walk to our next class and she asked "So what's your exciting news then?". For some strange reason Kara had walked off with Gab (short for Gabriella) but I don't know why. I guess that they've become closer since they both took Philosophy and Ethics as a subject, but they weren't in the same class. Kara took it as a single option and Gab took hers as a double. It didn't make much sense.
