Chapter Fourteen

"Wait, what!?" I said, stopping in my path and turning to face Alyssa. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. It was the Thursday of the week before we break up for the Christmas holidays, and I could not wait until I got to go home and sleep in late.

"I said that Mr Schmidt said that after the holidays it's compulsory for me to go to French tutoring with him after school. Like I don't even know why? I can say Bonjour! and j'aime les petits croissants. I'm practically fluent" Alyssa exclaimed, although I couldn't help but feel just a bit jealous at the fact that she would be able to spend time with Mr Schmidt by herself. I was taken out of my daze by Alyssa shouting "Helloooo, Octavia, are you listening? Is something wrong?-You've been out of it all day"

"No, nothing's wrong" I said, trying to hide any emotions.

"Okay - But don't you think that this whole tutoring thing is stupid? Especially for French? Like who cares that I got an E on my last coursework piece? It's basically a pass, I'm never going to get anything higher than a C anyway"

"Yeah, I think that it's pretty pointless" I replied with, as we were on our way to English with Mr Chapter.

"Then again, what do you think about Mr Schmidt?" Alyssa asked, with a sense of curiousness. I tried to stop myself form blushing and tried to play cool.

"Erm... he's alright" I replied with, not knowing what to say. I really didn't know what to say to that, as I already knew that half the girls in our year swoon for him.

"Hmm...maybe this won't be so bad" she said, as I coughed. Alyssa then looked at me with her narrowed eyes and the 'I think you might be hiding something' face.

I then opened the door to Mr Chapter's room and we both went to our seats.

Phew! That lesson was finally over; it dragged so much. Mr Chapter's lessons were alright I suppose but I feel like we don't really do much in the lessons. I got my stuff ready to head out and saw Maria, Alyssa and Kara all waiting for me. I didn't take that long, did I? We walked down the stairs and to the right, through the double doors, which was the languages corridor. There I saw Mr Schmidt, standing with his back towards us, waiting in the threshold of his room with his arms crossed. He did look rather nice, just standing there, waiting for his class. I don't think that we have him for the rest of the week, because on Friday we get to leave earlier (at around 12:30 pm) I think, which means that we miss his lesson.

We almost walked past him, but before we did he turned around and mine and his eyes locked for a second. His was the deep, dark mysterious chocolate brown and every time I looked at them I fell in love. There was some sort of connection that I couldn't explain. He then broke the gaze and said "Alyssa, did you get the message?"

"The one about the tutoring sessions after school?" she replied, as she stopped in front of him, whilst me, Maria and Kara kept on walking. Soon enough I couldn't tell what they were saying anymore, so I turned my head around just to glance at them. But what did I see? I saw them laughing at something one of them had said and Alyssa twirling her hair and leaning against the other side of the door. She only does that when she likes someone. What if she tries something on him? No... that would never happen because she would try anything on a teacher? Would she? No.. she wouldn't... she would be too scared of the consequences if someone finds out and what her parents would say. I wonder why they were laughing? It looked like one of his pure, innocent smiles as well. That kind of made me even more jealous that she could make him laugh.

I tried to get the thought out of my head by thinking about the Christmas Carol concert later. This was something that the music department in our school would organise every year and then the rest of the school would go to watch it, as a rehearsal. Later on, they would perform the real deal to the public, including parents, etc.

It was lunch now, so in a bit we would be going to our forms and then head down to the church to see the performance. It was really just people singing Christmas songs. In addition, it wasn't the best day to walk anywhere as it has been raining all day, but that's England for you.

Lunch was now over, so that means that we had to go to our forms to get our marks and as a school we would head down to the church. I headed over to my form room, which was opposite Maria and Alyssa's.

As I walked in I saw Olly there with his friends, and he looked me in the eye. I broke the gaze and walked over to my usual seat, next to the girls from the year below. We got our marks and then as a form we headed outside to meet up with the rest of our school house.
