Chapter Ten

Octavia Zimin's Point of View
It's been a couple of weeks since I've had Mr Schmidt as a teacher. Now I can honestly say that teaching is not his forte. I've seen worse but I've also seen way better. He is kind and caring and funny and smart but he can't teach that well. I like it when he's in the room and makes me feel nervous, but I don't think this will help me. Should I move to Miss Atherston's class? She is a much better teacher and I do like her technique. And it won't really effect anything else as they have French the same time as us. But then if I move, I probably won't get to see Mr Schmidt. What do I do? Everyone else seems to be okay with his teaching so should I stay? But then for me to actually learn, I want Miss Atherston. This is so confusing. Also if I move I won't have any friends. I have his lesson today, Friday, first period.
I walked into form, still stuck in this dilemma, and sat in my usual seat, the third row, the one closest to the window. I watched as Olly walked in, on his own this time, and he smiled at me.
"Morning Octopus" he said grinning at me. He had styled his hair slightly differently today. His black/dark brown hair was stood up and gelled so it would stay in place.
"Hey" I replied with, narrowing my eyes in a confused look. "Why are you so smiley?"
"Err...nothing" he said trying to get rid of his smile, but you could tell he was trying. I gave him another confused look and he bursted out laughing.
"Why are you laughing?" he carried on laughing, barely able to make any words come out of his mouth.
"It's nothing" he said, finally able to make some words come out of his laughing state. It was as though he inhaled laughing gas.
"Right" I said with a confused look on my face. Everyone else began walking out of the classroom, so I stood up, grabbed my bag and followed them, with Olly close behind. I started walking to French, and Olly walked next to me, still grinning at something. He walked with me until we parted ways, as he had history. We walked up the stairs that led to English if you carried on, and stopped in the little gap in-between the two double doors of the languages corridor and the one next to geography.
"Bye then" I said, lifting my hand a little.
"See ya" he returned, as we both turned our separate ways.
I opened one of the double doors that led into the languages corridor and saw Mr Schmidt smiling as he stood next to his classroom door, waiting for the rest of the class to walk in. I walked through the corridor and stopped next to him as he said "Bonjour". I just smiled weakly and carried on walking to my seat. I smelt the waft of his cologne as I walked past him. I then remembered that I had to decide whether I wanted to move class or not.
Carter Schmidt's Point of View
I watched as Octavia walked up the stairs with some other guy, that I guess was in her year, or in her form. I felt a bit of jealousy as they stopped at the top of the stairs. Were they together? I don't even know who he is, I don't think I've ever taught him. I started to find myself enrapt with all of these questions. She lifted her hand a little in a 'bye' movement then started to open the door to this corridor. I looked around so that it wasn't obvious I was watching and then turned my head back to face her. Today her hair was down, flowing just below her shoulders. Her pale blonde hair was parted in the middle, and it looked as though she had straightened it. As she walked closer to me I smiled and said "Bonjour". She stopped in front of me, making my heart rate increase a little and smiled weakly, before walking back to her chair. I could tell that something was wrong, but I didn't want to force her to tell me. If she wanted to talk to me then she would.
