Christmas break was a blast. It's good to get away from school work for a while. I probably should have done some studying but that can wait. I actually managed to not think about Mr Schmidt for a short while, until he creeped back into my head like a ghost. It's a new term and I know that Alyssa starts her tutoring with him. I won't lie, I have swallowed my pride and admitted that I was jealous at first, but if it's purely for French help, then there's no problem, is there?

First day back. I feel fresh and good. Mr Schmidt is the one I'm dreading to see, but I don't even know why. Do you ever just get that feeling when you want to avoid someone because you feel really awkward and embarrassed, but you haven't actually done anything that should make you feel that way? No? Well, that's how I'm feeling now. I haven't seen Mr Schmidt since the last day of the last term.

I felt a sudden hand on my shoulder as Alyssa shouted "Boo!", whilst jumping on me.
"Geez, you made me jump!" I exclaimed.
She laughed as we headed to our forms.

Wednesday came around the corner and I realised that it was going to be Alyssa's first tutoring session with Mr Schmidt. I had PE first and then English followed by maths.

The day ended. Finally. And I met up with Alyssa and Maria to walk home.

"Urgh. It's time for my tutoring with Mr Schmidt." Alyssa sighed as she walked besides me. "I just don't understand why"

I'd actually forgotten that she had tutoring with me Schmidt after school, which meant that she wouldn't be walking home with us.

Alyssa parted ways as she headed up to Mr Schmidt's classroom, and me and Maria headed home.

"What do you reckon they'll even do in the tutoring session?? I mean it's not as thought he can just make her speak fluent French" Maria said to me.

"I don't even know" I said, trying not to care.

The next day came by and I hit my alarm, not wanting to get up for school.

"OCTAVIA! GET YOUR LAZY ASS DOWN HERE! YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE" I heard my mum shouting from downstairs. I checked the time and it was 8:30. How on Earth did it get so late? I must've fallen back to sleep!

I hurried out the door, with several texts on my phone from Maria and Alyssa, asking me where I was as we usually meet up beforehand.

I walk into my form, slightly ashamed, and say "Sorry for being late" to my form tutor. I'd never actually been late before. I take my seat and just stare off into a distance.

"What's up with you?" Olly asks me. "I swear you've never been late before"

"Yeah, I don't think I have" I say to him.

"Then what's up?" Olly asks again.

"I don't know" I reply with, though I could tell he didn't like my answer. But the thing is I really don't know what was wrong with me.

A few weeks had passed, and Alyssa has had about 4 one-to-one sessions with Mr Schmidt. And from what I could tell, they were going well.

It was Monday morning and I had mr Schmidt first thing. I walked into his room and saw that everyone was already there. Ahhh shoot! I looked at the clock and it was 15 minutes into the lesson.

"Octavia" Mr Schmidt said from across the room. "That is the third time you've been late, and I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you detention."

I nodded as I knew that's what I was in for.
