Samuel Above ⬆

Five Months Later...

The smell of fresh brewed coffee woke up a sleeping Nia. Her eyes opened, her vision taking a second to focus on the mug of coffee by her bed side. Nia’s eyes slowly closed as she took a minute to herself before actually getting up. She wanted to go back to sleep but even in the zombie apocalypse with no place to be, she woke up around the same time every morning, her punctuality still in tact after these five past months.

Turning on her back, she reached her arm over to the side to realize Gabbie’s spot was vacant. With an exhausted sigh, she pushed herself up, planting her feet on the cold basement floor.

Sleeping arrangements had been changed since the first time everyone moved into the house. Gabrielle and Nia gave up their room to sleep downstairs in the arsenal, though she didn't mind sleeping down here because it made her feel closer to her Dad.

After taking the first sip of her coffee, she could feel the caffeine kicking in instantly. “Time to start the day.” She pushed herself off the bed.

She grabbed her towel, toothbrush, her outfit for the day along with her undergarments and made sure to grab her coffee before she opened to door to the arsenal to see Regina taking count of the necessities they had left.

With the blonde always organizing the biggest parties, sleepovers and birthday dinners, it was obvious that she would do good of organizing and keeping track of the things they needed.

“Good morning.” She chirped when she noticed Nia.

“Morning, how we looking?” Nia leaned on the railing of the steps.

“I just started, so I'm not sure but I'll let you know.”

“Don't bother, meeting in the dining room in thirty minutes. We can discuss it then.”

Regina frowned in the confusion at the fact there was a meeting but didn't say anything. She only watched Nia go up the stairs.

Nia entered the kitchen, the second person to greet her is Sam who was looking through the food stock in the kitchen.

“Morning Sam.” She smiled before drinking some of her coffee.

“Morning Nia.”

“Thanks for the coffee.” She leaned on the counter.

“Oh you know it's never a problem. Everyone already ate, as always your breakfast will be ready when you come back down.”

“You're the best.” She cheesed before drinking the rest of her coffee and giving him the empty mug. “Meeting in the dining room in thirty”

“Got it.” He nodded.

Samuel was a big help around the house. He was good at cooking, keeping stock of the food and also Nia’s right hand man. He respectively let her lead despite the age difference, but was always there to give her advice and guidance which she appreciated because she so needed that living in this house.

Next was the living room, where Tina was helping Gabrielle with her math. Since Tina was a genius, she didn't mind keeping Gabrielle up to date on her education. Plus, Gabbie was a joy to teach.

“Hey girls.” She waved to the two.

“Hey Nia.” They replied in sync.

“Tina, meeting in the dining room thirty minutes.”

Tina nodded before turning her attention back to Gabbie.

Entering the foyer, she saw Victoria, Olivia and the twins eating at the dining room table. “Meeting in thirty minutes.” She told them as she ascended the stairs.
