She could smell coffee the dim light filtering threw the blinds and chirps of birds alerted her to early morning she heard noises coming form the kitchen she let out a sigh of relief she felt happy it had to be Jackson finally she thought. She walked over expecting Jackson but to her surprise it was Greg, Jackson's younger brother he was taller than Jackson but not by much he has unkempt dirty blonde hair the I'm to cool to care look.
Mia smiled "Hey, the coffee smells good when did you start drinking coffee? "
"When I had to stay up for classes after partying all night."
"Right, So did you come here with Jackson?" Mia asked looking around.
"Actually I came up on my own, I thought he was already here."
"Well he was coming up from the city. He should have been here hours ago but with the traffic, wait how did you get here?"
"My jeep, I didn't run into any traffic."
"Haven't you seen the news?"
"I heard something on the news I saw a couple of detour signs but it was pretty clear all the way up", he shrugged.
"Can you try his cell?, I can't get service."
"Yeah, sure" reaching in his black worn book bag, Greg looked at the screen "that's weird, It says i have no service."
Mia rolled her eyes, "How can you even see anything on the screen with that huge crack?"
Greg laughed, "It still works just fine."
Mia went to the couch and grabbed her cell from the coffee table.
No missed calls. No bars. She got her boots on, grabbed her jacket off the hook by the front door.
"Ill be back" she called over her shoulder.
She exited the cabin and started down the path to the main road mentally saying not to lose her shit.
Mia knew you could always get a signal at the front by the main road no matter your carrier. Since she had no other options perhaps walking closer to the main road would allow her phone to get service she had to try.
The road was clear no traffic not that there really was any after all that is why they chose this cabin it was quiet and the neighbors were few and far.
Her phone was showing no service she turned it off and back on. Attempted calling anyway, nothing, there was no sound at all she started to panic. Jogging back to the cabin Mia went to the living room and changed the channel to see if the news was reporting anything new the blue screen was up for the DVD player she switched to satellite nothing no signal every channel.
Greg walked in "No service, even upfront my phone didn't do anything when I tried making a call, maybe you could try?"
Greg nodded and took off.
Mia was thinking she needed to get a grip and keep a level head she had Nick and her mother to worry about. Breathing in and out she tried to relax. Greg walked in "I didn't have any luck either look its probably just down temporarily we can try again"
Mia smiled "Right."
"So what time did you get up here, when Did you see the news?"
"Around midnight maybe a little after, I feel asleep on the porch swing. Got a little cold so I came in and made coffee. What news that sickness it was in Cali right I haven't been watching TV"
"Were you drinking or just high?"
"Right to the point as always look, I was at a party I had a few beers and smoked some pot its not a big deal."
