Today the manager called the seven trainees to tell them of this pivotal moment in their potentially successful future. He told them they would need to say goodbye to their parents, forever.
"Well, not forever," he explained. "Nothing is forever. You will be able to see them on holidays, birthdays, and you can even call them daily." There was a sense of excitement in the man's voice. He held something that wasn't to be shared with the young boys yet.
"Just pack all of your clothes for now, and say farewell to your family. A black car will come to each of your houses to pick you up. Make sure you see Oh BaekJoon in the passenger seat, so you don't get in the wrong car! I will see you all soon." The group call ended with a quick click, allowing the trainees extra time to spend with their families before being whisked away by their busy schedules they could have never foreseen.
[JIN]
"Mom, dad!" Jin called out after placing his phone on the kitchen counter. He searched the house, running out of breath as he finally found his parents outside planting some persimmon trees. Their backs faced Jin, so they didn't notice their son behind them. Jin calmed down and caught his breath, then he slowly wrapped his arms around his parents. They became startled at his touch, unsure of his reason for showing such a gesture."I'm leaving, eomma, appa. It's time for me to train and practice. I'm gonna be a singer now, a real singer." Jin's words held optimism, slightly reassuring his parents' worried faces.
"Before you leave, plant this tree with us, so we can always have a piece of you here with us; and so the tree can grow alongside your own growth as an artist." Jin nodded, acknowledging the truth of his parents' words and thinking of his uncertain career as a singer.
[SUGA]
The young trainee stood in his bedroom, speeding back and forth. He bit his thumb nail at a fast and worried pace, sweat forming on the top of his face. Finally, Yoongi stopped and planted his two feet in place. He yanked his thumb out of his mouth, turned towards his door, opened it, and walked to the entrance of the house. But, he stopped again. He looked at the front door, unable to move. All of the possibility of beautiful music and stardom lay beyond that door. He already told his parents what he did: he auditioned. And they already told their son how they felt: he wouldn't make it, the life of an artist is uncertain. But what they didn't know was that Yoongi had at least made it past auditions and he even chose a stage name, and everything!
Make a decision, Yoongi. Leave now without telling them, or you might regret it.
He made a decision. He told them. And what did they say?
"You have much more potential than this, son."
"Do you know how difficult it is to become famous in the music industry?"
"Just stay home. You can get a decent job at a store or something."
Yoongi had heard enough. He was now regretting his decision to tell them at all.
"I'm going, now. Goodbye."
With those words, the young man strode out of the house, holding back tears, as he saw a black car pull up to his driveway.
[RAP MONSTER]
"Eyyyy, it's NamJooniee~"
"Eyyyy, it's little bitchhh~"
The first speaker burst out into laughter, brushing off what his friend said."Namjoon, you're gonna be a trainee, huh? Well, I didn't see this coming."
"You didn't have to see it coming, YooWon. I'm sneaky like that."
YooWon gave Namjoon an annoyed look, and Namjoon patted his friend on the back, almost knocking him over. The two boys were walking home from the school, carrying nothing but their charisma and a bag of sweets.
