Joker x OC featuring some drama and friendzones bc idk. It's also pretty cliche, so if you're reading this and u think I've copied you're storyline, I'm sorry, I've read so many fanfics they kinda meld together, so no hate pls.

Avery swirled the straw in her classic white girl Starbucks frappe absentmindedly, watching her best friend's eyes light up as he described the story of him meeting Shannon Leto.

His hands were flying through the air around him, he was smiling even while talking, and his eyes were wide with enthusiasm, Avery could never tire of watching his excitement, he was just such an animated person.

"-he was literally so humble, like, what a nice dude, you know?" Avery nodded, smiling back at him and sipping her drink.

"So, Av, we've known each other for a while now-" He was cut off by Avery, who stood and danced around the table to him, plucking the empty cup out of his hands and walking towards the bin to throw them away.

"Sorry, continue?" She said once she'd returned from the short trip, he shrugged, looking down so his lashes covered his emerald irises, his dark blonde hair falling over his forehead. "You know, if you parted you hair down the middle, you'd look like you had a really bad bowl cut."

"I live for these comments you make about my hair, Av." He replied, she laughed softly, "Let's go, there's too many people in here."

"You're right, sooner or later, someone's going to come up to me and ask me all of the Wayne enterprises secrets." Avery smirked, "Which of course I know, it's not like I have a life outside of my dad's."

"Very true, Avery Wayne, the daughter of Bruce Wayne, little known secret: she's the one behind all of this huge decisions the company makes, Bruce doesn't run the show, his twenty year old daughter does." Avery nodded, her eyes wide and innocent.

"And her best friend, Gus Gordon, the person she shares everything with, including all the passwords to the confidential files. Imagine if someone were to kidnap us."

"Imagine."

Avery smiled, standing up again and leaving their table to walk outside, Gus two steps behind her. The cool breeze of winter blowing her black hair into her eyes.

"When the wind blows your hair like that, you can see the pink stripe I put in it last night." She said pulling the small lock of hair playfully.

"I tried hiding it." He replied, shoving his hands in the pockets of his ski jacket and hunching his shoulders, "Where did you get that jacket anyways?"

"New Zealand, they have this store called 'Katmandu', really good stuff. Dad has one he never uses, I'll steal it for you." Gus laughed, punching her shoulder lightly.

"Maybe not."

"Shut up! I'm taking a selfie!" Avery huffed and pulled the finger at Gus, who was laughing silently. She placed a hand on her hip and held her phone up again, allowing the camera to see her entire outfit in the floor-length mirror.

Gus snorted and walked away, Avery assumed to the kitchen, it was his second home.

"Avery, you look lovely." She turned to see her father, dressed in a crisply tailored black suit which managed to fit both his broad shoulders and slim waist.

"Thanks, you look okay I guess."

"Hey Brucie, how's it hanging?" Gus asked, walking back into Avery's room, his hands filled with cookies.

Bruce shook his head, "Don't eat them, this party is important for Wayne enterprises, the company you will inherit, Avery. You need to be making connections."
