Guess what? It's an update 😏
~*~
Harley waited for her signal, ready to cartwheel into view and kick someone's ass, as she usually did.
But the signal never came.
She crouched, waiting, for what seemed like an age, before she heard the familiar cackle of her partner and his car driving away.
"Mistah J..." She whispered, leaning back into the shadows and trying to think rationally- something she found incredibly difficult as she hadn't thought rationally since she became Harley Quinn.
Alarms began to blare, she knew she had a few minutes until the bat came for her, and at least half an hour until the police came to arrest her, if she had to pick between the two, she would pick the police any day. Batman made things too personal.
"So he left" She cursed silently, but her fear had disappeared in the minute she had had away from her lover.
"Yeah, I guess. It's just me now." She sighed and tilted her chin up, her parting sliding against the cold metal wall she was leaning against.
Batman chuckled softly, moving to sit beside her.
"I suppose it was for the best, I mean, I haven't see Ivy for a while now, or Dr Crane. It'll be nice to catch up with them before my Puddin' remembers what he's missin' and comes for me." She giggled coldly, "Who am I kiddin? I'll probably die in there."
She heard the thick material of the batsuit rustle, and realised he was shrugging. "Probably."
"Ya know, this is why I love hanging out with you. You're always so positive and optimistic, you make me feel so good about myself."
"That's my job."
"Done anything new lately?" She asked, no way would she escape, and it was better to make conversation than die of boredom before the cops got there.
"I saw Hamilton the other day." (A/N 😏😏*)
"Oh wow, how'd ya get tickets?" She gasped, obviously she'd heard about the musical, but she was far too busy to go and see it.
"A friend was one of the actors."
Harley sighed. Friends. That was something she yearned for. Sure she had Ivy, but Ivy didn't want to be just friends, she wanted more, and Harley wasn't willing to give her more.
"Which actor?"
"Daveed Diggs, he plays Lafeyette and Jefferson." (A/N 😏😏**) Harley was surprised that he answered, he'd never spoken more than three word replies, or much else than "Harley Quinn you are under arrest", or "The Joker doesn't love you".
"It was really good. I can see what everyone is talking about." Batman continued.
"You didn't happen to film it did you?"
"Of course I didn't."
She sighed again. There was no way in hell that she was ever going to be able to see it, or the world outside her Arkham cell.
Police sirens blared and she slumped, completely accepting her fate.
"Come on." Batman took her arm and pulled her up only to let go as gunshots were fired at them, and they were forced to duck behind a large wooden box, the same box Harley had been hiding behind while she was waiting for the signal that never came.
An arm wound around her waist and a hand over her mouth and she was dragged away. The person careful to keep her silent.
She kicked, trying to free herself when she heard a low growl, and froze.
They were out of the building, and the person let her go, she turned to see pale skin and a wicked grin (A/N 😏😏***). Puddin.
"M-Mistah J?"
"Hurry up, get in the car!" He hissed gliding to the drivers door and sliding in. She hurried to her seat and closed the door after her, her cheeks sore (A/N 😏😏****) from smiling so hard.
"You came back for me." She whispered happily as he sped away.
"Of course, baby girl." He laughed, "Why would I ever leave you?"
She giggled and sat back in her seat as the warehouse she was rescued from got further and further away.
