16. Plague Vex and Scourge

Gods i hoped this worked. I had summoned skeletons with Nico and we sent them into the forest. If it didn't work i had no idea what i would do.

I heard something start crashing through the forest towards us. Three skeletons burst through the brush and onto the field. They were closely followed by the three monsters.

Clarisse moved to block the forest and i raised more warriors.

The skeletons that lured the monsters out are now dust, but several more had taken their place. That's when the monsters attacked.

The one that was still missing a leg went after Leo. He ignited and began to fight it with Festus. But no matter what they did, the monster kept going. The monster that looked better off than the others, went after Percy and Annabeth. Chiron and Clarisse were making sure that the monsters did not make it back to the forest. That left the monster with a broken neck for me.

"Child of Poseidon. You will taste like fish." It hissed as it circled me.

"Eww, eating fish is inhumane." I responded.

"That was not the point. Now go to your room!" It hissed, its voice changing to that of my mothers. It sounded like her when she was angry with me. That just made me want to kill it more.

"Which one are you? Plague, Vex, or Scourge?" I growled, brandishing my sword.

"How did you find our names!" It screeched and pounced.

I dodged and stepped away. "Plague!" I shouted and watched.

The monster with a missing leg turned towards me. Plague. Leo caught on and started to call the monster back. This time, it burned.

"Vex!" I yelled again. The one fighting Percy and Annabeth tried to ignore me, but the monster hesitated showing that it was Vex. Percy and Annabeth's weapons started to create wounds that added to its already torn body.

"So you must be-" Scourge cut me off my leaping at me again. I dodged but one of his hooves caught my arm. Searing pain shot through my body. "Do let them scratch you!" I yelled through the pain.

Percy narrowly dodged a hit to the chest as i watched.

"You are weak. You should not be the Heir. How can you live with yourself knowing what you've gone through. I've seen demigods end their lives for less." Scourge hissed.

Tears pricked my eyes, he was using Hope's voice.

"What kind of Goddess lets demigods fight alongside her. You should be ashamed. They're doing better than you." He hissed again.

It was true. Percy and Annabeth had almost killed Vex and Plague was only on smoldering pile of hissing lion head.

"Go back to the cabins!" I told the others as Annabeth placed the final blow on Vex.

Percy gave me a look like he was gonna stay, but Annabeth pulled him with her. They all left with final looks at me and Scourge. Soon we were alone.

"I thought a goddess would be smarter." He growled.

"I want an answer." I said calmly and retracted my sword. I took the moment to rip and strip of fabric off my shirt and tie it around the cut on my arm.

"You don't get answers." He responded after a moment, when the shock of me being so calm wore off.

"I made the plan that resulted in the destruction of two of your kind. I think i earned answers."

He laughed in a low a raspy voice. His head lulled side to side. "You thought it would be that easy? They're not dead! You lose!" He laughed. The remains of Vex and Plague started to shake and pull together, forming and coming back to whatever state of life they were in before.
