Chapter 19 - back to school

So benefits of being on the voice kids:
-you don't have to go to school for a while
- you get to do what you love
So we still had to go back to school for a week, unfortunately. We basically had 2 weeks till finals, one week to catch up with school and one week to rehearse. It was early in the morning and I was putting my uniform on, I ran downstairs and got myself some cereal,
"Leia! You don't have to get to school till 9, remember I told you last night the teachers gave you time to sleep more?!" My mom said crossing her arms,
"No" I replied eating slowly,
"Well you have till 9 and its 7 right now so you can go back to sleep if you want" my mom said putting dishes in the sink,
"Oh woops, I'll just stay here and re-watch the sing offs" I said grabbing my cereal and sitting on the sofa, I switched on the TV just in time for the sing offs broadcasted from last night, I watched each audition paying attention to the finalist that I'm up against, it was finally Chris's turn and I watched closely,
How the hell am I meant to go against that?
He finished singing and then I was on stage I switched off the TV and groaned in frustration,
"Why the hell do I have to go up against him" I mumbled, I ran up to my room still dressed in my uniform and started to browse through my songs,
"If I win this I need something to stand out" I said to myself checking my playlist, I clicked Rachel Plattens new single 'fight song' and sat there listening to it,
Perfect match.
I didn't know how long I sat there listening to the song on replay but I heard my mom calling my nam,
"LEIA! We're leaving in five minutes!" My mom called out,
"Oh shit" I said cursing getting my backpack out of my wardrobe and packing my laptop and school books inside, I ran downstairs and shoved my lunch in my bag and put my shoes on and ran outside to the car, I hopped in and my mom started the car,
"You excited to get back to school?" My mom asked
"No" I replied sharply,
"Well kind of cause I miss everyone" I replied,
"It's been a stressful week huh? I'm so proud of you" My mom said
"Yeah it has" I said,
"It's also really adorable how you made new friends and especially Chris, he's such a sweet boy and it was nice of him to take you to the A&E and-"
"Mom!" I groaned,
"Sorry honey" My mom chuckled,
"Where's your crutch?" My mom asked, oh shit I forgot again...
"I don't need it my ankle feels better" I lied,
"Ok good" my mom said focusing on driving, it wasn't long before we arrived at my school,
"Oh god" I groaned slamming my head on the car window,
"Stop complaining Leia" my mom hissed as she opened the car door, I frowned and got out of the car my backpack slung over my shoulder,
"Come on Leia!" My mom said pulling me, we walked into school and she dragged me into the principals office.

"What is it like on the voice kids?" Mila asked,
"Fun" I said shrugging,
"Hey look! CUTE NEW BOY ALERT!" Cassie shouted, I rolled my eyes and didn't bother to turn around,
"Actually Leia you might want to look" Mila tapping my shoulder, I whipped my head around, I saw a boy with black hair, wearing a green baseball t shirt, black jeans.....
"Chris?!" I said, his eye caught mine and I ran across the cafeteria and hugged him,
"What in the world are you doing here?!" Chris said pulling away,
"I go here" I said,
"What are you doing here?!" I asked,
"Looking at schools" Chris explained,
"Schools?" I asked,
"Yep we moved areas so I'm trying to find a new school closer to where I live" he explained, I heard a throat clear behind him,
"Sorry Principal Watson" I said stepping away,
"No problem Leia, now go eat your lunch" Principal Watson said waving me off, I smiled at Chris and walked back to my lunch table with the whole cafeteria staring at me,
"When are you two going to date?!" Mila said once that awkward moment was finished,
"In my dreams" I said out loud,
"Did I just say that out loud?" I muttered, Cassie nodded and laughed,
"Don't worry Leia we know you like him" Cassie said winking,
"Alright alright I admit it" I said crossing my arms, they both squealed before talking nonsense again,
I can't like him... He's my competitor.... It's him or the winner of the voice kids....  But he's the boy that makes me have butterflies in my stomach, he's the boy that makes me laugh, he's the boy that I like.
