Chapter 10

The man in black stood away from the treeline of the dense, ancient forest, taking in the sight and sounds through the eyes of his feathered minions. Emotions flickered across his face ranging from delight to irritation to sheer anger. His "pawns" were nowhere to be seen or heard. He began to follow along with the birds that aggressively hunted down the people within the castle halls, laughing out loud at their pitiful defense against his lovely beasts of hell. But when they reached down to the depths of the prison cells, he caught a wiff of some lingering power and knew instantly what it was.
'Aaaaahhh..., the Orb of Intrepidation. That little minx was there, which means her friends were also there.' He grinned stupidly to himself and began to cackle. 'I wonder, should I release it's power now or wait until they're in my line of sight?' The strange figure began to twirl about, looking more like he was having convulsions rather than doing a happy dance. 'I'll wait, I think. I want to see their pain up close!!'

In a hidden cavern near Parish Lake, the group of friends plus their captive, appeared out of thin air. Vaya said, "Lucian, start reviving everyone. I'm going to get some answers." She scanned over the bodies that were still unconscious then turned to her prisoner. "Alright now. Time for you to spill!" She stated glaring at the witch before her.
Zeelith stood bound in place with her arms pinned to her sides, still trying to recover from the sudden shift of being instantaneously overthrown and held in place by what she believed to be a mere mortal. Reluctantly, she spoke, "What is it that you want to know?"
Vaya couldn't believe the defiance in the woman's voice. So she gave a warning zap from within her mind that caused the witch to convulsed. 'Arrrgghh!! I can't believe this is happening!' Thought the witch. Vaya then took another breath and asked, "Where is Davina? What have you done with her?!" The witch smiled through her pain in response. "You are looking at her."
Lucian's head snapped up as he heard this. "What do you mean by that?!" He yelled.
Zeelith gloated a bit before she caught sight of Vaya's expression. Instantly, she felt another surge of pain rippled though her body, bringing her down to her knees. Coughing she looked up and said, "You realize that you are hurting your dear friend. She and I are one, now." At first, Vaya looked afraid. Then something flickered in her eyes, and the fear disappeared. "Okay. I see you're going to be difficult about this." An impish smirk gradually appeared on Vaya's face as she continued. "Time for you to sleep, then." And then Zeelith passed out.

Lucian finished healing their friends then quickly turned to Vaya. Before he could speak, Vaya cut him off. "How are the others? And how are you feeling?"
She stood there studying her friend as he tried to find the right words. "Everyone is alright, I think. There was a sleeping hex on them, but that's gone now. They should be waking up shortly. I am..., alright." He finished, lamely. Then he looked and saw the Enchantress unconscious on the floor. "What does she mean that her and Davina are one?" He asked in a worried whisper. Vaya turned to look at the woman on the ground and said, "I'm not entirely sure, but I will find out. But I will need for everybody to be awake and alert before I venture into her soul. It might get really ugly and I need for you all to watch over my body when I do."
Lucian nodded, alittle nervous about what was just said. He couldn't fathom what his dear friend could possibly mean by it, but he wouldn't probe any further until it was time.
"Let me rest a bit. Wake me when everyone is up so I can explain what I'm about to do." She turned once again to the witch and began to slowly wave her hands and chant a spell before walking over to her cousin's side to lie down. Lucian then busied himself with making a fire since it was a bit chilly and dark in the cave. He stole another glance at Vaya and saw her finish weaving another spell on the magic marble before putting it back in her pocket. She laid down next to Brodie, curling up by his side and let exhaustion take her into the blackness.

Stauss was the first to wake and he immediately took in his surroundings. His friends were all laying down, sleeping peacefully around the blazing blue campfire.
He caught sight of Lucian and gave a wary tired smile. "I don't suppose that you will tell me how we escaped our prison?" He whispered. Lucian just smiled a bit and said, "V found us and fought her way in. As for the details of how she did it, well, you'll have to ask her. However, she's exhausted and she has some interrogation to do when she wakes."
This suprised Stauss a bit. With his eyes widening a fraction, his head whipped around to scan his surroundings once more. That was when he noticed a figure laying separate from the fire. He got up quietly and went to it and noticed it wasn't Davina like he first thought. ☆How?☆ was all that escaped his mind and knew that his friend had heard. Lucian was then by his side replying to the mental question. He replied in his head,☆Like I said, we'll have to wait until she wakes up. But I think she's wanting to find D before explaining anything. You know how cryptic V can get. But first, we have to wait for the others to wake. We were all forced to sleep, but somehow my subconscious was awake enough to react to her voice. She's changed so much from when we first traveled with her.☆
Stauss was about to comment when he realized that some of the others were beginning to stir. He then turned to look at Lucian and said, "Hopefully we won't have to wait too long. It seems we've stumbled upon something beyond anything we've experienced combined. V, however is still a mystery, though."
"I know. And things are getting strange, even for the likes of us." Lucian chuckled out.
