Chapter 3

It seemed like an eternity before the trio made it back to camp. The tall flame haired youth, who was simply known as Stauss, was the first to notice the hunting party's return and rushed over as soon as he saw them emerge from the treeline. The others saw that they were carrying Brodie, but didnt see any obvious injuries. All the same, though, they were quite worried about their friend. It was Thadd that spoke first, "We are alright, but we need to have Brodie checked out. We'll tell everyone about what we saw once we know he's stable." All mumbled in agreement before setting out to make their friend comfortable near the fire.
Vaya sat next to her cousin with a hand resting on his forehead with eyes closed. She wore a slight frown, but didn't move from her spot since her cousin was laid before her.
Lucian stood facing towards the direction they had returned from wondering if that thing was somewhere close by. He held the tiny sphere in his hand trying to recall in detail what he had experienced. He could not feel any other presence other than the ones in his small group and decided to focus on them. As he turned around to face the said group, he took in what they were all doing. There was a great amount of tension for awhile since no one was talking, and poor Dane was still recovering from the events that happened a few hours ago. Alley sat near the fire, opposite from Vaya and Brodie. Stauss and Giles stood further back of the camp, he guessed, to keep a lookout from that position and Thadd sat across from Vaya waiting patiently for some sort of movement from their unconscious pal. He looked again at the trinket he held and decided to head over to Brodie's side.

*In Brodie's minds eye*

He could see everyone in camp including himself lying down in front of his cousin. He stood right behind her and her spirit self  appeared to his left. "So when do you plan on waking up?"
"Huh?" Was his response. He turned to look at her. "I don't understand how we can see our bodies like this other than if we're dreaming."
"That's just it,  we're not dreaming. Your soul has been forced out of your body, and I am here to get you to return to yourself."
Brodie was dumbfounded.
"Have you always had this power? To expel your spirit away from your physical self?"
"Not until about a year ago, when we all lived apart from one another. But that's a story for another time." She smiled with a wink. "Now, back to you. Can you feel your body down there?"
"I'm feeling numb. Is that normal when you're like this?"
"For the most part. You're not suppose to be able to feel your body at all when you remove yourself from it. Only when you're leaving or returning do you ever feel anything. However, despite the fact that this is all fascinating to you, I believe myself and the others would like to know what happened."
"Right. How do I go back?"
"Go lay down within yourself. When your soul is completely inside your body, you'll be able to wake. Just sit up and I'll wake up after you've return."
So Brodie did what he was told and soon after he join together with his physical self and sat up wide awake. Vaya woke up shortly after. Everybody felt relieved upon seeing this and all approached the cousins with joy. The small group decided to try to get alittle more rest in and give Brodie, Alley and Lucian some space. Every member in the group, except Dane, knew when occasions like this happens, it's best to not force anymore stress on the people that were affected unless they were already ready to start talking.  The night was silent once more while there were three of the guys on scout patrol. The others went to rest, but even in dreams they all felt ill at ease, and slept a restless sleep.
