Chapter 5 - Falling For You

Claire's POV

I was digging my own grave. God Claire, why the fuck would you do something like that, I mean, YOU HAVE A BOYFRIEND.

I check my phone.

"Yeah, a boyfriend who doesn't text or call you" I thought to myself.

Mitch was a troublemaker.

He knows I have a boyfriend, who I love, but he just keeps pushing it.

"Cat. What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing at all." I lied. Everything was fucked right now.

(The Next Day)

Claire's POV

I sat on the couch next to Jerome and looked at my phone again.

"Are you expecting a call or text or something?" he asked

"My boyfriend." He nodded and I excused myself and walked upstairs in the hallway to go call him.

"God damn Jackson pick up the phone!" I said to myself.

"Hello?"

"Babe, you have been ignoring me since spring break!"

I was almost cut off when I heard something in the background. "Baby when will you get off the damn phone and come back over here?" It sounded like a female voice in the background.

"What the fuck was that?" I said angrily

"Uh...nothing babe." He said softly.

I felt tears come out of my eyes. "We're done."

"It's not wha-"

"Just...fuck her and leave me alone." I hung up the phone and leaned against the wall. I was startled by Mitch, who was standing outside his door.

He walked over and hugged me. "What's wrong Claire?"

"He cheated on me..."

"Are you okay?"

I laugh a little. "The funny thing is, is that I'm not crying because I loved him and so on, I'm crying because he CHEATED on me and made me look stupid."

"Eh, you don't need to tell anyone that he cheated on you."

I shrugged. "I guess so."

"I was going to go swimming with Adam and a few others, wanna join?"

"It's like 10 PM!"

"Yeah...so?"

"I'm down." I perked up and grabbed my purple bikini and put it on and walked outside and saw Jerome and Mitch already in the pool.

"Is it cold?" I ask

"Nah, it's fine." Adam replies.

I jumped in and it was FREEZING.

I surface and shiver. "What the hell guys!?" They all die of laughter.

"God I-I'm s-so..." I stuttered and then Mitch comes up from under water and hugs me and I am immediately warm.

"I feel a lot better now." I smirk.

"If you are so cold, go in the hot tub." Jerome says.

I release from Mitch and walk over to the hot tub and sit in it, getting warm. Mitch joins me a few minutes later.

"Mitch?"

"Yeah?"

"Remember what I said yesterday?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

I snuggled against him. "I think...I think I am falling for you."

"Falling for me?"

"Falling in love with you." I look at him and smile and he smiles back, eying my lips and back to my eyes.

Is the BajanCanadian really going to kiss me?!

He started to lean in and I did too without hesitation and his soft lips made in contact with mine.

Everything slowed down, and I was enjoying every second of it.

We stopped and I rested my head on his shoulder.

He laughed. "You're blushing"

"Shuddup."

(Skipping until Claire leaves LA)

Claire's POV

"I'll see you guys soon, I promise I will be back here after graduation!"

I hugged Adam, Jason, Quentin, Ian and Jerome goodbye and they left to go outside leaving just Mitch and I.

"I had a lot of fun this week." I said trying to make him feel a little better. But it didn't work, he was still looking down at the floor.

"Me too. I will miss you a lot." he mumbled.

"I'll be back before you know it."

I hug him, for a long time and I kiss his lips.

The next words flew out so easily.

"I love you."

"Love you too." He said as I walked away to the terminal and he was fading away as I walked away. I got on a plane and flew back to Miami, 2,730 miles away from him.
