You are Eight.

It's finally the day. It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm gonna invite the kids in my class. Sitting down I start writing all the invitations out in my best cursive writing, and decorating them with small drawings of flowers. Jumping down from my chair I wobble over to the desk where my mommy keeps the envelopes. Grabbing a handful with my small hands I start to wobble back over to my chair and I climb onto it and slam the envelopes down on the table. Standing up in the chair once more I start to put them in the envelopes and put a golden heart sticker to seal them. After 5 minutes of working on the invitations I finally grab the stack of 50 and lose my footing when the doorbell rings. I fall off of the chair and a tear gathers in the corner of my eye as I stare at the invitation for my best friend on the ground. I let a few tears slip down my face and I move my arms to hold my bleeding knee. Hearing my mom answering the door I let out a small sob and my shoulders start to shake as more tears move slowly down my face. Hearing a small gasp I look up to meet emerald green eyes looking down at me worried."Y/N, are you alright?" He asks while putting his small hands on my shoulders.
"Y-yeah, I think I just need a bandaid," I say sniffling.
"Oh I'm on it, stay here!" He says with a determined look in his eyes as he makes his way towards the bathroom.
Smiling slightly to myself to having such a caring friend I start to pick up all the invitations that I'll hand out tomorrow. Picking up one with green marker neatly spread across the front spelling Steven smiling I put it next the the stack and sit down again. Listening to the thumps and bumps for boring and just as I was about to get up he emerged from the hallway and walked over to me. Kneeling down he starts to fix my knee and hum a song. Smiling at his work he then spots the letter and looks back at me with a small smile and picks it up.
"Is this for me?" He asks jokingly.
"Of course it is!" I say giggling and I watch him place it in his backpack gently.
Picking me up we hear his mom yell for him to go and we smile sadly at each other before mumbling small byes and hugging. I walk up the stairs to my room and go to sleep. It took a while to fall asleep from excitement.

Waking up to my mom singing happy birthday I smile and yell excitedly rushing to my dresser to pull it out hitting my knee on accident. Frowning at the pain I ignore it and dig out some camo shorts and a (f/c) shirt with frills at the end. Rushing down stairs I almost trip but catch my balance and hop down the last step. I walk calmly into the kitchen and stand on my chair waiting for my mom to finish cooking the pancakes. Placing my plate in front of me she smiles and kisses my forehead."Now you eat up while I pack your backpack," she says sweetly.
Smiling and kissing her cheek I squek out a small "Thanks mommy!" and start to eat my breakfest.
After mommy gave me my backpack I rushed out the door as fast as I could to go wait for the bus.

I was in bed after the day at school."Tomorrow is the party," I whisper to myself before falling asleep.

I wake up with a groan and look at my digital clock to see it's 12:00 pm. In and hour everone gets here so I get up and excitedly get dressed. I rush doen stairs thinking some of them already came to see an empty living room. I frown and sit down on the couch ready to wait.-time skip-
It's been four hours and no one has arrived so I hang my head start walking to the staircase leading up to my room. While passing by the door I head a small knock and my head turned towards it. Slowly walking towards the door I sniffle every now and then. I open the door and see Steven standing on the porch staring at his feet and holding something behind his back. He looks up and smiles brightly towards me."Y/n! Why are you crying?" His voices turned from excited to concerned.
"S-steven? What are you d-doing here?" My crying calmed down slightly seeing my best friend.
"It's your birthday isn't it!?" He almost shouts with a goofy smile.
"I'm glad you came! I almost thought no one would come," tears never left my face.
"No one came? Well I'm here! Can I come inside?," his green eyes sparkle in the sunlight.
"Of course you can," I step aside and let him in.
We walk to the dining room where my mom was setting down the cake. She turned and smiled at us while we sit down at the table with Steven. Steven smiles at me and places a wrapped up gift on the table. This wasn't just a Pity party. This was the day I spent with my best friend Steven .
