Alice opened her eyes as she felt the blinding light of the sun through her closed curtains. Groaning she sat up and opened her eyes. Sleep hadn't made her forget. She needed to talk to Alex. In fact, she decided, I'll go talk to him right now. She thought, throwing her legs over the side of the bed and getting up lazily. Alice shuffled towards her wardrobe and opened it. Like most things in the house it creaked loudly. Pulling out a black lacy dress her aunt bought her, she dragged herself towards the bathroom.
After getting dressed, she walked to the kitchen expecting to see Alex. Mom and dad were already sitting at the table. Her mother noticed her immediately. "Alice! Good morning. You got up early!"she exclaimed surprised. Het father beamed at her smiling, "She's finally growing up! Anna, she's not gonna need us forever!" he said, sighing dramatically. "She'll probably run off and get married soon." he continued pretending to tear up. Alice sighed. "Yeah, yeah sure I am dad," she mumbled sarcastically. Her father just chuckled. Alice's father had done theatre before and was well known for being a happy-go-lucky guy. "How's Woods brothers down the road? Phillip and Andrew was it?" Alice groaned. "Where's Alex?" she asked, changing the topic. Her mother answered. "He got up early. left a note saying he wanted to go ask grandma something. Oh, and he said something about having something important discuss us after school today." Alice froze. Alex couldn't possibly believe that mother and father were going to let him become a hunter. Could he? "Alice? What's wrong? You seem upset," her mother asked, worry creeping into her voice.
Alice forced a smile and shook her head. She sat at her table and ate quicky. If she didn't hurry, she was going to be late for school.
