Dear Diary,

I almost told Piper and Lisa today. I'm pretty sure they know that something is wrong. I just hope that they haven't figured it out yet. I hope they never do. It would be too crazy, and I don't want them to have to go through what I am...

I close the diary and try to blink away tears. It doesn't help, the tears flow anyway.I remember that day. I thought that she wanted to tell us something, but never would I have guess what.

Emily stood in front of her locker. Every now and then she'd look around, as though she expected to see someone.

"Em, what's up? You seem out of it." I said, snapping my fingers in front of her face to get her attention. She jumped a little.

"What? Oh, um, nothing, I guess I'm just tired." She said, brushing her blonde hair back as she shut her locker door. She shifted the books from one arm to the other and started walking.

"Okay. But you know you can tell us anything, right?" Piper said. Em nodded.

Em continued to have a distant dazed look on her face during our next class. But something weird happened. Just as our teacher turned to right something on the chalkboard, my phone vibrated. I took it out of my pocket and checked my messages. One new one, from Em. I looked over at Piper, her phone was out too. I opened the message and read:

I need to talk to you guys ASAP!!!

I looked over at Em, she was fidgeting in her seat, occasionally glancing at the clock, then at the window. She was definitely nervous about something. The bell rang and we followed Em to the bathroom.

"What is it, Em?"

"If I tell you something, can you swear never to tell anyone else. No matter what?"

"Of course we would."

Em looked around and took a deep breath. "Okay, well, um, I...um..."

"What?" Piper said, gently.

"You know what, it's nothing. Never mind, sorry." Em said, looking even more nervous than before.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean it's not important." She turned and walked out of the bathroom. Piper and I looked at each other, then left.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A knock on my door brings me back to reality. I quickly close the book and hide it. Jennette, my older sister, walks in.

"Hey, Mom wanted to know what you wanted for supper." She says, examining her nails.

"I don't care." I say through my tears.

"Oh, you're crying." She says in a bored tone.

"It's nothing."

"What's wrong?" She says with mock concern. Ah, she cares so much. Not.

"Why do you care?"

"I don't."

"Thanks. I just love your concern."

"Whatever." She says, leaving. "I'm not the one who starts crying every other minute." I throw a nearby book at her, careful that it isn't Emily's. I close my door and start reading more of her diary. It's so insane, so impossible. No wonder she didn't want to tell us this. We'd have thought she was crazy. I still think that she might have been crazy.

I turn around, feeling like someone is watching me. When I look out the window, no one is there. I grab my phone and dial Piper's number. "I think we need to talk."
