The Secret Diary of Emily Carlton

Chapter Six

I pace back and forth in my room. This is getting too weird. I run through the things I know in my head. Em is dead. She secretly had a diary. Someone is following me and Piper. I continue to pace trying to make sense of what we saw today. No, what we thought we saw. There is no way Em is still alive. I was at her funeral, saw her with my own eyes. That wasn't Em. It couldn't have been her. 

"Lisa! Mom says to stop pacing, before you wear through the floor." Victoria, Jennette's twin, says, poking her head through my door. 

"Okay, sorry." I say, sitting down at my desk. 

"Are you okay? You seem...distracted." Victoria says, coming into my room. 

"Yeah, I'm fine." 

"Okay, but you know you can tell me anything, right?" I nod. "Then I'll leave you alone." She says leaving. 

As soon as she's gone, I grab Em's diary. Leafing through the pages until I find the one I'm looking for. 

Dear Diary, 

I think I found out where he lives. I still don't know who he is, or why he's following me, but I'm going to find out... 

I grab my phone and call Piper. 

"Are you up for a stealth mission tonight?" 

"What do you have in mind?" 

"Finding our stalker." I say, dead serious. Piper takes a long time to say something. 

"Sure. I'm in." She finally says. 

"Good. Meet me at the corner of East Meriden and Evergreen in a few minutes." 

"Okay, I'll be there." She says, hanging up. I grab a sweatshirt and run downstairs. 

"I'm going out for a little bit." I say to no one in particular. "I'll be back soon." 

"Okay, have fun." My mom says from the living room. 

I run down to the meeting spot. I wait for a few minutes until Piper comes. I wave her over. 

"So, do you have any idea where we are going?" 

"Sort of." I show her the entry. "If he didn't move or anything, he should be there." I say, praying that I'm right. 

"Well, lets go find out." She says, I nod. 

I don't know if Em ever got to find out why he was following her, but we will.
