A/N *unedited* Sorry for the kinda long wait on this chapter. Im on Christmas break for the next two weeks so i plan to get at least two more chapters out druing it. Hope you guys like this one. (Kenzie, this chapter is symbolic of our relationship pre-friendship lol dont kill me) enjoy.
After Elissa drags me out of bed and makes me get dressed I mope down stairs to get some breakfast. Cameron and a few other boys are in the kitchen snacking as well. I mouth “Help me” to Cam, and beg with my eyes to the other boys as Elissa tells them all about how we’re going job hunting because I need friends. They all laugh and shake their heads and Cam mouths “She scares us.” We both giggle and then I turn toward Elissa who is making some sandwiches for the boys. “Grandma Cameron should come with us! I mean he probably knows lots of people my age I can be friends with.” His smug look immediately turns to a glare. I just shrug and flash him an evil smile. “Why that is a great idea sweetheart! Cameron I’m sure you wouldn’t mind accompanying us, would you?” “I would be happy to Luna.” He says still glaring at me. The other boys snicker, grabbing their sandwiches and running out the door before they could be dragged along too.
Cameron drives us to the square and follows grandma and me into a few stores. After a while he is covered in a mountain of bags because grandma has shopped in almost every store we went into. Around four we all decide to take a break and Cameron suggests we stop in the café for some milkshakes. We sit at the bar and I’m surprised when Olivia takes our order. “Luna” she says while bowing her head respectively at my grandma, and then bows her heard again at me. A little uncomfortable I star down at me menu. She is being so nice to me, it’s strange. I mean I did just fight her mate last week. “What brings you to town Luna?” She asks grandma sweetly. “Well Alexis is doing some job hunting, but we didn’t have any luck unfortunately.” Elissa replies. “Oh well the café is hiring!” she replies excitedly. “Go on back to the office and talk to Chuck, I know he won’t hesitate to hire her.” Elissa stands up excited and starts making her way to the small hallway at the end of the bar, which I assume leads to Chuck’s office.
Cam stands up and walks to the same hallway Elissa did. “I gotta go to the restroom, be right back.” Office and bathroom, nice. “So what can I get for ya?” asks an egger looking Olivia. “Um a Chocolate shake with no whipped cream for me and um a..” She giggles, “a mint chocolate for Cameron?” “Yeah. Thanks.” I say back. Cam must come here a lot. “Alight, I’ll have that right out for you.” She says with a smile while shouting my order to the chef in the back.” She seems friendly enough. “Thanks for getting me a job too.” I offer. “Thanks for not killing my mate.” She shrugs. “I know he can be cocky sometimes, but he’s a good guy.” I nod and smile and she scurries off to the kitchen. Cam emerges from the hallway just as Olivia brings out our shakes.
“Thanks Olive!” Cam says as she hands him his shake. She rolls her eyes at his nick name for her. “The boys call me that because of my green eyes.” She explains to me. I laugh, “It’s a cute name. Thanks for my shake Olive.” She smiles and rolls her eyes again as Cam laughs. “Olive? What the hell makes you think you have the right to call her that?” Says a cool voice behind me. Cameron growls and jumps up from his seat. I turn around to see the girl from the clothes shop, Makenzie, standing in front of me. “You will have respect for your future Luna Makenzie. She could have you thrown in the jail for speaking to her like that, and I know Tristan will punish you when I report your disrespect to him.” She sends me a death look and Cameron steps protectively in front of me, sending her a warning growl. “Luna Elissa and Tristan’s future mate will be my only Lunas. This girl is a fake.”
Saying Cam is pissed is an understatement, he is boiling. I gently lay my hand on his shoulder and he turns to me, his face softening a little. “Its fine, I don’t care what she says or thinks. Come with me and enjoy our milkshakes.” I say with a reassuring smile. At first he looks as though he’s going to protest me but I think the thoughts of his mint chocolate milkshake sitting on the counter got the better of him, and he returns with me to our seat. “Tristan is on his way to deal with you Makenzie.” He says as we sit down. I don’t turn around but I bet Mackenzie’s face is priceless. She starts to mutter something but he quickly yells “that is enough” and she quiets down. Things are quiet for awhile and we sip on our shakes. She never moves from behind us but Cam doesn’t seem to worried, and I’m more focused on the fact that Tristan is going to be here any minute. What if he tries to talk to me? What am I going to say? What if he brings up us being mates? I have to keep my cool.
