Karkat and Tavros Humanstuck

A/N: I don't know exactly where this came from, but hey, here it is. Humanstuck, Hospital au where Tav is in the hospital because of dehydration from a stomach bug. 

 “Hih-etschew!” Karkat sneezed into the crook of his elbow, a firm scowl remaining on his face as he sniffled to clear his nose. The last thing he felt like doing at that particular moment was working.

The thin amputee kid in the hospital bed was about his age. He had been quietly watching Karkat mop, fidgeting, until he finally spoke up, and even then it took a few moments for Karkat to notice the quiet voice.

“So uh, I feel like I should apologize for . . .”

Karkat rolled his eyes “Expelling your stomach’s contents onto the floor?” he couldn’t really blame the kid, honestly. There were enough stomach flu patients that he’d gotten used to it.

“Well, uh, yeah.” The kid said, giving a hesitant nod.

“Well this is what I get paid for. And shit, trust me when I say that I’ve cleaned up a lot w-worse . . . hehh-Hitschew!” he only had time to shield the sneeze with the back of his hand before crinkling his nose and sniffling. He mumbled a colorful word or two to express his irritation with his own body.

“Y-you don’t sound very well yourself.”

Karkat unintentionally scowled at the other, but quickly softened his expression when he saw him tense up.

“Yeah, well not everyone gets a shitload of sick days.” He mumbled, continuing to mop.
