Random Sick!Karkat

A/N: no idea what AU this is

Karkat tosses and turns before letting out a quiet groan. His exhaustion has become obvious and frustrating by this point. Not even his first night sleeping in a human bed was as bad as this, although that could be because of the headache and chills he is currently suffering from, not to mention the sore throat and clogged nose. Apparently this illness is another human thing that happens quite frequently, and happens even more so for a lowblood who's still getting used to earth. As one last attempt to fall asleep, he wraps his arm around the pillow and hugs it close to his head before nuzzling his stuffed nose into the harsh fabric of the pillow case. After several more minutes of this, Karkat soon decides that this isn't going to work out too well. Despite his tired, aching muscles, he pushes himself up into a sitting position on the edge of the bed.
The sound of footsteps coming down the hallway is faint, almost unnoticeable before the light outside of Karkat's bedroom is switched on. John walks passed in his pajamas, backs up, looks at Karkat, and leans on The bedroom doorway. "Hey, can't sleep?" He knows the answer to this, unfortunately. He knows how hard it'd been for Karkat to sleep. Karkat hasn't said anything about being sick, but it's easy to figure out just by looking at him.
Karkat shakes his head, sinking his face into his hands for a moment. This is stupid, he knows it is. He knows that he shouldn't be so hung up on sleeping. He knows he shouldn't care about catching a 'cold' or whatever the humans call it. He knows that none of this matters, but that doesn't keep him from feeling like a pathetic piece of shit, incapable of something as dumb as rest.
"Uh, Karkat?"
Instead of rudely telling John to leave, mixing in a little foul language for good measure, Karkat just plops back in bed and turns over to face the wall, with hopes that he'll eventually be left alone without having to speak and risk irritating his throat further.
