Ironic-knight-of-time asked: ey ey the nerd dave is back and would maybe enjoy a story with dave and tavros as sick roommates and their creepy other roommate kurloz tries to help bcuz yes memories
Tavros knew that it was going to be a long day when he woke up with a sore throat, aching head, and stuffed nose. He thought about just staying in bed all day. It was the weekend, after all! However, his bedroom was rather boring with no TV or computer. He happened to share a computer with his roommate Kurloz and often just didn’t ask to use it.
After Tavros pulled himself out of bed and into his wheelchair, he made his way to the living room, only to see Dave Strider stretched across the couch. Sharing a home with two other guys was one thing, but when those two guys were Kurloz and Dave? Well, that was another. Kurloz often made both of them uncomfortable, but several of their mutual friends talked Dave and Tavros into sharing their home with the Makara fellow. Dave was just a douche that Tavros found unpleasent, but he had money to pay rent so who really cared.
Dave gave him a simple nod acknowledging his presence and went back to playing on his phone. Surprisingly enough, the TV wasn’t on.
"No Saturday morning cartoons?" Tavros asked as he rolled in near the couch."Fuck no." Dave fixed his position on the couch and adjusted his shades of which Tavros personally found to be incredibly stupid. "My head hurts already. Don’t need that thing blasting in my ears."
Dave gave a thick sniffle which told Tavros that he wasn’t the only one spending his weekend with a runny nose.He only wished that he knew who had it first, but really the two of them shared so many friends they could have easily caught it off of the same person.
Tavros suddenly turned away "Hih … tschiew! snf snf …" He waited a couple of seconds as another agonizing tickle built up in his nose "hih-hiTSCHiew!" It were uncovered, but luckily aimed towards the floor rather than his roommate. Lacking anything else, he ran his sleeve under his nose, leaving a visible wet spot behind.
Dave soon followed with a sneeze of his own, possibly out of sympathy for Tavros (although, probably not).
Tavros heard a quiet, breathy groan come from Dave, and he decided that they were both probably wondering the same thing: why didn’t they ever bother to buy tissues?
ooo
An hour later when Kurloz had returned from his visit with his family, Tavros was still slumped in his wheelchair, watching the TV on low volume at Dave’s request. Dave was curled up on the couch with a rather thin blanket covering him.
Dave greeted Kurloz with a wave, while Tavros said “Hey, welcome back.”
Dave almost winced at the sound of Tavros’ voice. While he was suffering from a headache, the paraplegic must have gotten a sore throat instead. If illnesses worked like that, anyway.
Kurloz raised an eyebrow and signed something to Tavros. Dave didn’t know sign language and was often left out of conversations between those two that he probably wouldn’t want to understand anyway.
Tavros shrugged and glanced at Dave before saying “Yeah, kind of, I guess.”
Kurloz nodded, placed his keys on the kitchen table and then signed something to Tavros again. He looked like he was going to reply to whatever Kurloz just said, but then changed his mind.
Dave tried to see what the tall fellow was doing in the kitchen but it was impossible without leaving the couch, and that was not going to happen.
"What’s he doing?"
Tavros’ response was just a sigh, and Dave decided not to question it again. However, as Kurloz returned with two glasses of water and a bottle of Tylenol, Dave was tempted to question it. Good thing he didn’t need to.
"He said that he’s going to take care of us." well now Tavros said something.
Dave wasn’t too sure he wanted help from Kurloz. The two of them barely acknowledged each other’s existence and it was mostly because he found Kurloz to be creepy and rather unsettling to be around. He was told that he was just being rude, but Dave wasn’t so sure.
Dave and Tavros both accepted the water, each taking the pills without much of an argument, because really they were both too worn out to care.
After asking Dave and Tavros to take their temperatures (Using the same thermometer didn’t seem like a big deal when they were both sick.) he talked (or signed) Tavros into going back to bed so he could lie down, and soon after that Dave fell asleep when his roommate brought two more blankets for him to curl up in. Maybe that creepy roommate was less creepy than they thought.
