Anonymous asked: AHHHHHhhh you already wrote a prompt for me, but if you are still accepting them, I would like to prompt another (if you run out of new ones). JohnDave or JohnDavesprite with Dave sneezing (accidentally) on John? John reacting negatively but not without compassion... Please and thank you! You're a lovely writer and I can't believe your level of output! Bravo!
Dave bent at the waste, half-stifling a sneeze. He was trying to be quiet about it but with each sneeze it became harder not to catch John’s attention, especially when they were sitting right next to each other.
John was already giving him concerned glances every once in a while, not bothering to say anything for the time being.
After another glance from John, Dave finally decided to say something.
“I’m fine.”
John looked away and said with a shrug, “I didn’t say anything.”
“Yeah no shit. You’ve just been looking at me for an hour without saying a fucking word. I know you’re thinking something.”
“Yes, okay. I was thinking that it’s the middle of the winter, the peak of flu season, and it’s really fucking cold out today.”
Dave rubbed his nose as it started running “Brilliant observation.” He mumbled.
“And you’ve been sneezing all day.”
“That’s bullshit. Striders don’t sneeze.”
“That’s bullshit.” It certainly was. When they were kids, John would go to the Strider’s and see Dave’s bro sneeze and continue to do so all day. Dave may not have had allergies in the spring like his brother, but he definitely got sick during the winter.
John gave his boyfriend a long eye roll before he passed a handful of tissues to the sniffly one. “If you weren’t feeling good you could have just told me and avoided all of this.” He said with a smug smile.
Dave weighed the pros and cons of accepting the tissues and basically admitting defeat. The pros outweighed the cons, of course, because it was easier to say ‘Yes, I’m sick.’ Than it was to spend the day giving himself a headache by stifling sneezes. He decidedly took the tissues out of John’s hand and carefully pressed one to his nose, allowing the others to fall into his lap.
John kissed Dave’s cheek as he stood up “Want some hot chocolate?” he already knew the answer, of course. When wouldn’t someone want hot chocolate?
“Uh, sure.” Dave answered with a sniff.
Minutes later John had returned with two steaming mugs of hot cocoa. He handed one to Dave as he sat down and took a small sip from his own mug.
It wasn’t long before the hot chocolate had been finished and Dave had fallen asleep, his head rested on John’s shoulder. John sat comfortably, fixing the blanket that Dave was curled up in so it would cover his shoulders.
“Hetchuh!”
It wasn’t until John had been woken up by the familiar sound that he realized he had fallen asleep as well.
He could hear Dave’s quiet sniffling as he tried to reach over to turn the lamp on without disrupting his resting boyfriend.
Dave sat up enough to look at John.
“Hey,” Dave said, his voice still hoarse from the grogginess that he was experiencing “Could you hand me a tissue?” He was already rubbing and pinching his nose to get the tickle in his nose to go away.
John nodded, searching the room for the tissue box, only to find nothing. “Hold on, it must be on the floor.”
“Hurry,”
John continued to search for the box of tissues, but he was still unable to find them. Just as he was giving up, he heard several quick breaths and then felt a mist on his cheek and neck. John jumped in surprise and looked over at Dave, who was covering his nose with his hand.
“Shit!” Dave exclaimed.
“Whoa, okay.” Even being slightly disgusted, John smiled. A lot grosser things had happened to him, really.
Dave continued to cover his nose, deciding that John did not need to see the aftermath.
“Oh! Here!” John found the tissue box wedged underneath the sofa and handed it to Dave.
He wiped his nose and avoided eye contact “Sorry.” Dave mumbled.
“It’s, uh, it’s fine. But if I get sick, I expect the best treatment.”
He scoffed “Yeah, okay.”
