It's a Monday morning, but there's no way I'm going to school.
When Mom wakes me up, I tell her I'm not feeling well. She tells me she needs to go to work but she'll leave me a twenty on the table for food.
Once my parents are gone, I take a run to the woods. At the clearing with the lake, there's a beautiful boy. He's sitting with his back against a tree, a smile on his face, a breeze blowing his hair everywhere.
But I immediately realize that there's something wrong with the breeze. Even though I'm standing a few feet from him, I can't feel it.
I sit down next to him and he opens one eye to look at me. He closes it again. I tell him the day is beautiful and ask him if he agrees.
He does agree.
I lean back against a tree a few feet from his and close my eyes. That's when I begin to feel the breeze. I open my eyes, surprised at how quickly it changed, only to find him peaking at me with one eye.
He sees me looking, closes his eyes, chuckles, and the breeze dies.
And never have I ever felt in better company.
