The Joker growled before gazing at Harley. He knew she'd want this. But it was a fruitless endeavor.
Fate didn't work that way with him.

"Why are you so hung up on my daughter...miss...?" The Joker spoke lowly as he leaned into the table.

"Because it could change everything. It could open doors you didn't even know existed." Mila replied with enthusiasm.

"What doors?" Harley asked.

"Maybe finding your daughter, or even knowing she's alive, could boost improvement of your treatments. Giving you some peace of mind and even hope would most likely trigger some sort of progress." Mila explained.

"We aren't sick doctorrr. We are labeled insane because we choose not to abide by the law and order of this chaotic world. Nature is wild! Why can't we be as wild as nature!?" Joker exclaimed as he threw his hands up, grinning at the doctor.

Mila couldn't help but smile. He was right. She had always hated the thought of being controlled. She was kept in line mostly to please her 'parents' but deep down she knew that rules were meant to be broken.

Harley smirked as she noticed Mila's reaction.

"Look, we'll drop the subject for now. But in return I'd like to speak more about your past relationships. A time before 'The Joker' and 'Harley Quinn'." Mila said as she wrote some notes on her notepad.

-----

Mila walked up the steps of the adoption agency in the center of Gotham, right across city hall and the police department. She sighed as she pushed the door open. She saw a young girl barely her own age sitting at the desk, obnoxiously chewing on a piece of gum.

Mila sighed in annoyance but kept walking towards her.

"Excuse me. My name is Mila Hartford...well, Mila for now. I guess. Anyway, I'm here to look up adoption information for my clients at the Arkham Asylum." She courteously spoke to the girl.

The girl looked up and smiled. "Oh yeah sure, can you tell me the name or last name of the parents?" The girl asked.

"Well, I don't know their last name. Can you try looking up Harley Quinn or the Joker?" Mila asked with a serious look on her face.

The girl looked up at Mila in surprise. "Um, wait. Really?"

Mila nodded. The girl began typing the given information and stood up abruptly. She walked to the back where loads of filing cabinets were placed next to each other. She opened one and skimmed through the names and brought one out.

Bringing it to Mila, she gave her an apologetic look. "Are YOU their psychiatrist?" She asked.

Mila nodded and took the folder. "Thanks." She left with a sigh.

At home, Mila didn't know what to expect. She was seated on her comfortable couch in front of the television, eating some of the Chinese take out she had picked up on the way home.
But she kept glancing at the files from the adoption center.

She couldn't tear her eyes away. She swallowed the last piece of noodle in her mouth and set down the food.
She grabbed the file and opened it. Reading through some of the information she smirked as she read about the condition of the baby.

"Gotham caped crusader Batman brought in a newborn baby with a gun shot wound to the head. Oh god poor thing! The child in question was the offspring of the notoriously wanted criminals, The Joker and Harley Quinn. ..wow..." Mila kept reading on.

"The child was eventually adopted to...." she stopped reading and closed the file immediately. Her eyes were wide in shock and she started shaking violently.

"No. No way. No fucking way." She muttered to herself as she hugged her arms, tears threatening to escape her.

She immediately picked up her phone and dialed for the parents who had adopted her.
As soon as her mother picked up, Mila couldn't help but scream into the phone. She was always quite confrontational.

"Hello? Mila? Darling!" Her mother excitedly spoke on the phone but Mila wouldn't have it.
She was sick of being lied to constantly. Everything she had known and loved was a lie.
A complete lie.

She came from the two most sinful humans to ever grace the earth and she felt dirty. She felt terrible.
Guilty.

"Save it. Not only do you have the nerve to drop a bombshell like my adoption and lie to me my whole life! But now I found out who my real parents are!" Mila's tears flowed freely down her cheeks as she held the phone up to her face.

On the other side, her mother wept.

"You are not like them," she said simply.

"It doesn't matter. You're never gonna hear from me again." And with that, Mila hung up and threw her phone to the wall shattering it.
